It was dangerously close to the dinner that you were totally not ready for. You had borderline anxiety attacks and goosebumps the entire time.

You were thinking of ALL sorts of excuses to cancel it. The most legit and valid excuse being Hidan was missing since past two whole hours and after 13 calls, 25 texts and God knows what, he was still unavailable. Neither Konan nor Deidara were picking up their calls and no one else knew where Hidan was. So when Obito texts you, you panic even more. 

Obito: Sorry for this most inconvenient shit. 

You: Yeah, I cant find Hidan

Obito: What do you mean cant find? 

You: He isnt responding. No one is. I am worried. 

Obito: He knows we are meeting today? 

You: He said he would be there and to meet him directly last I called him. But I dont know where he is. 

Obito: I am sorry, can I help? 

You: Not really. 

Obito: Do you want to cancel? I am sure it will be okay. 

You start typing but you get a call from Hidan. Finally!

"Where the fuck are you?" you say as soon as you pick up the call. You could hear music in the background and there were definitely a lot of people. 

"Prayer group!" He replies. "I had told you already."

"And what kind of prayer group plays music like you are in a party? Where exactly are you?"

"Listen, I will be there, okay? Just send me the address to the restaurant."

"I am going to cancel it, Hidan, I don't want to go. Not like this." 

"I know you don't want to go since she doesn't know you guys fucked. But you can use my name to cancel it if you want" He says off-handedly. 

"What the fuck did you just say?"

"I have to go now, I will see you there." He disconnects. 

You go back to texting Obito. You didn't want to tell him something was wrong. But you most definitely didn't want Rin to know. You didn't want to be embarrassed in front of her of all people. But you had a feeling you would be irrespective of whether Hidan shows up or not.  

You: He said he will be there. 

Obito: Is he okay?

You: Yes

Obito: Phew. Cool. See you then. I owe you one. 

You: You owe me ten!

Obito: I forgot how difficult you are. 

You: Right back at you man

You stare at the screen and laugh. It was good to talk to him again, but it would be painful to see them together.

Getting ready, you get a cab since you didn't feel like driving. Looking out of the window anxiously, you try calling Hidan again, but receive a call from Deidara. 

"Y/N, you had called?"

"Dei, where were you?" 

"Sorry, had some art commissions to complete. Did you find Hidan? I read your texts just now. Are you okay?"
