You swallowed the lump that had formed in your throat, and suddenly it's hard to focus your gaze on anyone or anything but the waxed floor of the gymnasium. Most of the girl's eyes are on you, and almost instantaneously you're reminded that you're supposed to be someone who didn't even dare touch any sports equipment because you knew you'd suck at it.

Breathing in through your nose, you brushed away the intruding thoughts with a smile, bearing your teeth as if there's joy that encompasses your soul. There's nervousness alongside all of the flurry of emotions that you feel, they feel like a typhoon inside of the pit of your stomach and you begin to wonder how people thought this sensation was because of butterflies. No, supernova stars were exploding inside of you, their stardusts seeping into your bloodstreams like adrenaline gunpowder.

"Yes, ma'am!"

You exclaim enthusiastically, and hints of laughter bubble inside of your throat but you push it down. Striding, your steps are confident, making you look far too comfortable for this setting, as if you knew you'd be called -- although you're simply praying you don't mess up because there are a lot of people looking at you and oh god, you can't mess up now.

You're handed a ball by Ena-sensei and you stare at it for a moment. It's in good condition, it's very shiny, it looks expensive -- if you stole all of Nekoma High's volleyballs and sold them, you'd probably be able to live a decent life in Norway, away from all of these volleyball nonsense-

You glanced at Shikichi-sensei and she nodded her head at your silent question to start, firm and brief. The ball was on your left hand and you nodded at yourself, you decided to just blindly trust Chika's body. Surely, it would know what to do.

Tossing the ball high into the air, a few feet away from where you stood, you didn't wait for another second to move. You exploded forward, shoes squeaking against the gymnasium's floor as you swung your arms. You didn't really know what you were doing, you had just read up on how to do multiple volleyball moves on the internet so you didn't make yourself look like an idiot.
