"Y/N, WAKE UP, PLEASE," she screamed at me.
I felt nothing. Bones cracked, leg split open and  an arm missing. The adrenaline rush was the only thing keeping me awake right now.

The pain burned me, both outside and inside whilst the cacophony of noise caused my ears to ring in constant agony. Where was was I...?
"Y/N... please wake up... I know you can,"

That voice...

"Y/N, we are nearly there... just keep yourself awake and we will finally be fr-"
My pupils dilated in horror at the sight of a blade plunged through her stomach. She didn't react at all... she almost just accepted what had happened. Not a flinch of pain, nor a face of shock.

She just smiled at me, as that ruby red came spilling out of her mouth.
"Thank you... Y/N... f- for... for-"

Her sentence was never finished, as she just collapsed onto me on the floor. Her body over my own, as she just lay there. Peaceful without a care in the world...

"Y/N,"
Huh...?
"Hey, Y/N?"
What time is it...? Who is shouting...?
"HEY GET DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW, YOUR FOOD IS GETTING STALE,"

Springing out of my bed, I forced my eyes open. Confused, I was blinded by the golden sun which shined its rays through the crack of my curtain. Already time to wake up...? Just one more hour...

Collapsing back into my bed, I shut my eyes again to return to the world of dreams. Little did I know, that today would change everything.

To my annoyance, I was interrupted as I heard footsteps coming up to my room. They got louder and louder while step was with aggression and intent. The door suddenly burst open, as I was greeted with a very pissed off older sister. Her hair was down, whilst she had eye-bags under both eyes.
"...Y/N... how many times do I have to call you..."

My older sister, Kyra, sighed as she watched me in disappointment.
"Y/N, you do realise that it's eleven right...?"
"I had a late night... just let me have another hour..." I yawned.
"Seriously?! I even prepared your favourite today. Eggs and bacon. It's getting cold by the second..."
"Can you put it in the fridge for me? Please?"
Once again, Kyra sighed.
"Your very lazy, Y/N. Just make sure you do not let the food go to waste. Okay?"
"Yes, I know Kyra..."

Kyra and I lived together in a small house, inside the Internment Zone in Liberio. Our parents died in a car crash when Kyra was 12 and I was only 2. Since then, she has raised me like her own child and took up multiple jobs to to help us survive with food and water. Strangely enough, she never told me about her jobs and what she did in them.

"Great. Also Y/N, I believe your forgetting something very important today,"

Crap. This must be a bad sign. I tried to remember everything I had done for the past week in a span of five seconds. Unfortunately, I was unsure what Kyra was talking about.
"No idea..."

She gave me a warm smile as she quickly ran up to me to gave me a massive hug.
"It's your 13th birthday today, Y/N,"

A sudden shock went through my body, as I was in disbelief that I forgot my own birthday.
"Wait- for real?"
"Mhm,"
Looking over Kyra's shoulder, I checked my calendar. She was right... it is my birthday...

"Y/N. I assume your wide awake right now, so come down to open your present from me,"
My heart was filled with joy, as today was my special day.

-5 minutes later-

Half dressed, I hopped down the steps; 3 at a time. I smelt something amazing as I went down the steps. It smelt like the bakery a few blocks down...
"Ta-da!" Kyra cheered as she held a huge chocolate cake. Nothing could go wrong today.
