Y/N POV

-

There, in front of my own eyes, the girl who raised me my whole life dropped to the floor.
"K-Kyra...?"
Silence.

Just in a second, I had lost everything. A part of me that held me together for years, dissolved away while I struggled to grasp the reality. Nothing mattered anymore. What else do I have to lose...?

Grabbing the pair of scissors, I knew what I had to do. The fire burning inside me spread like an inferno, while the man quivered in fear. Knocking the man to the floor, I stood on top of his body as he stared up towards the devil itself.
"N-No... p-please don't-" he struggled for words.

Is that... all he can say...? His begging infuriated me even further. Lifting the scissors above me, I had a second thought about my decision.
"I- I will do anything you want... just let me get home to my children..."

The words of the coward engraved themselves into my mind. There is nothing I want... everything I loved for and cared for is gone...
"Kid... just place the scissors down... and we can settle-"

Swinging the scissors downwards, I pierced his shoulder while he yelled in agony. I did it again. Each time, my rage blazed even more as all the mercy I had in me dissolved away. Choking on his own blood, he tried to fight me but posed no threat. Purposely avoiding his heart, I went for his face. Each time I slammed the scissors down, the next time would be twice as strong. Through to pain, he managed to mouth some words:

"Plea- tell... my childre-"

I shut him up as I dealt the final blow.

-

"Y/N? Y/N wake up!" a familiar voice called out to me. Quickly opening my eyes, a bright light shone into them.
"W-Where am I..." I asked blindly in panic.

My vision focused, as I realised where I was. Maia was next to me, just to the side of my bed.
"Y/N... your sweating buckets right now and you look like you have just seen the devil..." she told me.
"M-Maia...? I- I just-"

Immediately, Maia wrapped her warm arms around me to calm me down.
"Y/N... your heart rate is racing. Take slow deep breaths for me okay?" she insisted.

I followed what she said as I began taking deep breaths.
"That's it... now breath in. 1... 2... 3... and slowly breath out for me. 3... 2... 1..."
Surprisingly, I managed to calm down and catch my breath.
"Y/N... that's it... now keep taking deep breaths okay?"

My mind was scrambled.
"Hey... Y/N. Did you have another nightmare...?" she asked worryingly.

Nodding my head, she placed her hand over my own.
"Y/N... maybe we should call someone in to help. Selection begins in four days... maybe we should take you out-"
"No," I snapped.
"Y/N... what if it happens again during selection? What will you do?"

Half ignoring her, I tried not to think about it.
"I will deal with it. If I cannot deal with it myself, then I am not fit to become a warrior..."
Maia looked uneasy.
"Well Y/N... I am going to call a friend of mine in to try and help, okay?"
"Whatever..." I sluggishly replied.
"Y/N... it's okay to ask for help. You know that right?" she said, as she left through the door.
"I know..."
