Leo got up, sand all over him. He looked at Camilla, his mind blank. He then looked at the floating rock above her hand. "What are you?" He asked, slightly shaken. Camilla dropped the stone on the ground and walked up to him while patting her shirt down.
"The better question Leo, what are you?" She asked poking his chest with her fore finger. He watched as all the sand on him flew off in all directions. "Um I don't think that I'm the person in question here. Are you an alien, or do you have superpowers or something." Camilla looked at Leo and giggled.
"No I am not an alien, nor do I have super powers," she said while laughing. Leo waited until she was finished. " Well what you can do defiantly isn't normal." Camilla wiped a tear from her eye. "Well maybe not to you, but believe me what I can do is sub-par to what some are capable of."
"What do you mean? There are more like you?" Leo asked while staring at her red face.
"Well of course there are more, everyone has some sort of ability. But there are also those who have many abilities." Leo watched Camilla's expression, she was serious. He thought about what she could do. "So these abilities, is it like how you can move dirt?" Camilla twisted her straight brown hair around her finger.
"Well yes that's one ability, but it's not limited to that." Camilla said releasing her hair. She stomped on the ground and a chair formed from the ground and she sat. "There are two types of known ability classes. One is elemental and the-"
"What are the elemental abilities," Leo blurted out cutting Camilla off.
She sighed, "don't interrupt people when they're speaking." She said looking slightly annoyed. "Elemental abilities are abilities that let us control the elements. The elements are fire, water, air, and earth. "
Leo gazed into Camilla's eyes. What she was saying was absurd but he could tell she was telling what she thought was the truth. " And you said there was another type, What is that one?" He asked still glued to her chocolate brown eyes. "The other ability type, although it is less common is physical. What I mean is some people may have increased strength or speed. Even more rare than that is people who have physical abilities like levitation or mind reading." Leo's mouth fell open.
"Mind reading! That's insane!" Leo yelled. Camilla had a serious look on her face that showed how truthful she was.
"So Leo, what class do ya think you are? What can you do?" She said, more to herself than to him. Leo thought about what she asked. 'I can't be special, I'm not fast, or strong, and I definitely can't read minds.'
"Leo? I am talking to you." Camilla said while snapping her fingers. Leo looked up returning to reality, "what?"
"I asked what you could do, I mean everyone here can do something." "Well I can't do anything, that's a fact, there is nothing special about me."
"You really shouldn't lie, everyone has an ability, even you." She said while placing her hands on her hips. "I'm not lying, I have no ability, never have, never will." Camilla looked around her, as if she was making sure they were alone.
"Well there is a very rare ability that doesn't show until you become sixteen, or if someone of the same class awakens the power within you." Camilla said her voice dropping down to a whisper. "They are called master specters and they can-" From behind a tree something moved. The shapeless creature wavered in and out of sight. The sound of sloshing water emanating from its direction. The figure slid from behind the cover of the trees. Its was as black as ink. The only distinguishable aspect about the blob was the red roman numeral XIII engraved on what would be the things forehead. The creatures body rippled as if a stone had been thrown at it.
It flowed back, then forward, shooting trough the grass like a spear. It twirled around Camilla's legs and up her body. Her eyes went wide and she let out a blood curdling scream. Her eyes welled with tears as the dark creature coiled up her, encasing her in a cocoon, her screams muffled. The creature pulled her off the chair and into the forest. From beside it another came, this time aimed for Leo. It whipped through the grass. He watched in horror as it got closer and closer, ten feet, five feet. The creature was almost upon him when it slammed against something, something invisible. It paused, slightly stunned. The numeral XII appeared on its head as well. Everything around this dark abyss seemed to be drained of life, of all good. The creature, or thing pressed against the barrier. It transformed into thousands of small needles and assaulted the invisible barrier with all its might, determined to get to him, to take Leo away like it did Camilla. Tears rolled down his cheeks, fear struck at his heart. Fear for not only himself but for Camilla.
The needles halted their relentless assault, coiling away from the barrier and fleeing back to the trees. Leo felt around himself, there was no barrier. His mind went to Camilla and the look of plea she had in her eyes before being consumed. He ran towards the woods thinking he had to save her from whatever had taken her. The closer he got to the forest the more driven he became. He ran as fast as he could without any hesitation. Just before he crossed into the forest he was ripped to his left, his feet leaving the ground. Instead of falling onto his back he rose off the ground, higher and higher. He looked up, he couldn't believe what he was seeing. Pulling him farther into the sky was what he had only seen in books and heard of in fairy tales. A large black dragon.
