George shifted on the mattress. He was exhausted beyond belief, yet he couldn't sleep. Sapnap was in trouble because of him. Because of his selfish nature.

He fiddled with the blanket, struggling to fall asleep. Sighing, he laid on his back, blankly staring at the ceiling.

He tried to imagine what he'd be doing if his life was normal; if his parents didn't hate him and he was home. Would he have made friends? Would he have a girlfriend? Would he-

His thoughts were interrupted when a loud creack echoed through the room. George's eyes immediately fluttered shut, scared of what would happen if he was caught awake.

"No need to pretend. I know you're awake." A low voice said.

George flinched, and slowly sat up in bed. There by the door, posture weary and slouched, was Dream.

"I figured you'd be asleep by now." Dream muttered, only loud enough for the brunette to hear.

George was petrified, to put it nicely. This was the man who took him from all sense of normality; of familiarity.

"I...couldn't sleep." George got out, refusing to look straight at Dream, intimidated by the porcelain mask atop his face.

Dream chuckled under his breath, and slowly moved over to George.

There was deafening tension between the two of them before Dream spoke up.

"What did you like to do? Y'know...before?"

George perked up a bit at the question, ecstatic to talk about his old life, his normal life.

"I was a youtuber. My channel is super small though, since I just started out. I really want to grow a bit and establish a community! It seems fun!" George blabbed to the complete stranger, earning only a nod in reply.

When he stopped talking, he looked over at the other man facing him.

Silence engulfed the room once again.

"I'm sorry."

A moment of silence passed before George decided to brush it over. He let out a small chuckle.

"I don't blame you, really." He said with a smile as he shifted his gaze to the stupid smiley mask.

Dream smiled back.

Without realizing it, they began to talk and talk late into the night as if they were old friends. Well, actually, George did most of the talking. He told Dream about his life, his career, his talents, anything he could think of, George told him.

Dream was content with listening to him.

Hours passed as they conversed; Dream occasionally slipping a fact or two about himself into the mix of the nonsensical discussion that was somehow initiated.

At some point, George yawned and rested his rested his head back on his pillow, feeling his eyes flutter shut.

"G'night..."

He managed to utter has he felt his consciousness slip away.

Dream smiled, preparing to get up, only stopping when he realized something was holding onto him.

It was George.

As he had fallen asleep, he hadn't realized he had grabbed the other's sleeve.

Dream let out a soft chuckle as he sat back down besides the shorter boy, resting his head on the mattress. He caught himself staring at the sleeping beauty under the covers and forced his eyes shut, bracing himself for the darkness of sleep.
