14 years old

There was no mistake. She got her period. Y/n walked out of the bathroom clumsily. She was so embarrassed to tell her dad. It's in times like these when she wished she had a mother.

Her father was writing his blog in the living room, so she walked down the stairs and stalled at the rooms entrance. She was facing his back.

Y/n took a deep breath and started talking: "dad?..." she asked shyly "mm honey" he replied still writing on his laptop. "I have to tel you something" she told him. This time he stopped what he was doing and turned around to see her. "I... igotmyperiod" she said all in one breath.

Her dad freezed. She thought she said something wrong, but it was really just single-dad-shock. John knew this day would come, but he tried to evitate it. He didn't want his little girl to grow up.

He stuttered. He had no idea of what to say. He made sign to sit by his side. "How do you feel?" He asked. "Erm, good? I have a stomachache, and you know i would need some tampons and things" she asked really embarrassed

right, shit. John thought. How could he be so irresponsible? "I'm sorry darling, I will go shop for every thing right now" he was so ashamed to be unprepared. "And... um, do you know how to use them? He asked. She nodded. "Alright" he whispered. This was all so awkward. He gave his daughter a hug and then a quick kiss on the fore head.

As he was in the store he dumped everything he saw in the shelves: pills, tampons, pads. You know, just in case.

Later in the day they went at sherlock's. Y/n wasn't in a good mood at all: she sat crouched in her fathers chair with her black Hoodie on. Meanwhile John sat at the table with Sherlock. He already told him, and the two exchanged worried looks. They wanted to rise y/n's spirits, but they didn't know how.

"Maybe ask Mrs Hudson?" Sherlock whispered to John. "She must know something" lupus in fabula, she just entered the kitchen with a tea tray. "Good morning everybody" she said. Her mood was much better than anyone else's.

John took her in the kitchen to ask her. " Mrs Hudson, y/n got her first period today" the woman stopped cleaning Sherlock's mess and looked at him happily: "oh that's wonderful!" She said. John shushed her urgently. "Do you know how to raise her mood a bit? She's quite sad" he whispered.

Mrs Hudson already knew her answer: "food. I remember how dreary it was, but food always raised my spirits." John listened to her. "Don't worry, I'll take some sweets and things from down stairs." John thanked her a lot and he got back to his work.

Y/n and Sherlock were still in the living room. Sherlock tried to start a conversation, but she didn't even respond. A short while later Mrs Hudson knocked at the door of the silent flat.

"Y/n my dear; in brought you some things to make you feel better!" Y/n looked up and saw all the food Mrs Hudson had brought: candy, snacks, even cake. It was a whole lot of food. She smiled for the first time of the day. "Thank you so much!" She said, sitting up. Mrs Hudson winked at her. Y/n's mood was certainly brightened. John and Sherlock exchanged baffled looks.

Y/n was sick all day. At one point came her first sneeze: "etchiú!" It was so loud both the boys turned around. "Shi-" she hold herself since her father was watching "I have to go to the bathroom one sec" she stated embarrassed.

As she disappeared through the door John asked Sherlock: "did you ever wonder how it is?"
"No, and I will never" the detective quickly responded. He surely didn't like the topic.

That afternoon, a visitor came at 221 b. It was molly: "Sherlock, I've got your files"
She said as entering. She didn't have only that though: In her hand was a beautiful bouquet of red and white roses. After placing the files on the living room's table she moved to y/n, who was reading. "I heard you became a lady y/n! I'm happy for you dear, so I bought these roses for you" Molly handed them sweetly to her. Y/n was flattered, but was quita angered that everybody knew now.

When molly went away, she went up to her father: "did you tell Molly about that?"
"No, I only told Sherlock and Mrs Hudson" he replied. She looked at him shocked: "Mrs Hudson? You knew she would tell everybody she knows!" He tried to say something but nothing came out "urghh, great now everybody knows!" She cried slumping in her chair another time" she was so fed up, just after one day
