Inanna's parchment was filled with key words, and notes that she had taken down not only for herself, but for Khai as well. Her parchment was very well-organized, and her handwriting was the neatest cursive. Inanna had parted ways with the trio after her classes had ended, because the trio went to the Gryffindor common room, while Inanna went to the Slytherin common room. Before, Inanna had tried to get into the hospital wing, but Madam Pomfrey banned her. So, having nothing to do, Inanna went to her dormitory, left her things there, dresses up again, and went on about her day.
Right now, she was sitting on the bank of the Black Lake. This place calmed her down. Even though the water was not transparent, Inanna felt calm and collected when she was here. The gentle breeze, the gentle swaying of the trimmed grass, and the smell of water. The sky was cloudy, but Inanna didn't mind.
She hated the sun, actually.
Looking up at the sky, she couldn't help but admire how beautiful it was. It was seemingly limitless, and always balanced. She wished life was like that. The sky looked so simple. But, actually, it was so much more complex. The sky looked so smooth, so heavenly- especially in the golden late-day sunshine.
The setting sun reflected back on the black water, making tha water look impossibly prettier. The Black Lake was so deep, so scary and held so many unknown. Yet, somehow, Inanna saw the best in it.
"Thought I'd find you here," A familiar voice drawled. Inanna didn't even bother to look up at him, as he sat down beside Inanna. "What do you find interesting in here anyways?" He asked, though his eyes were on her, Inanna's gaze never once left The Black Lake.
"The Black Lake comforts me. Why? You got any problems, Malfoy?" Inanna asked, in an almost challenging manner.
Draco chuckled lazily as he leaned back into a tree, resting his back against it. He lifted his hands up and folded them behind his head.
"Why, I've got no problem," Draco said, still watching how the sunshine made her practically glow. Her eyes seemed a lighter shade of green, a softer one. Her skin was golden, and her midnight hair shone brightly under the glorious late-day sunshine. Every single part of her looked incredibly soft to touch. "Just wanted to appreciate the beauty here, is that so wrong, Elsher?"
Inanna sighed. "What do you really want, Malfoy?" She asked, still not taking her eyes off the lake. It annoyed Draco a bit, but he forced himself to ignore that.
"Fine," Draco huffed, straightening up again. "Okay, so, you probably don't know this, but we have an annual ball this year," Draco said. He paused and watched as Inanna gracefully toyed with a strand of her fallen black hair, before gently tucking it behind her ear. Her eyes were still fixated on the lake. "And, now, I want you to be my ball partner." Draco finished and waited for her to explode.
For a few moments, Inanna didn't react. But after, she turned around and faced Draco with the most emotion he's ever seen her express.
"What?" She spluttered. Draco could practically sense her brain working miles a minute, that brilliant mind of hers taking out every single scenario where The Slytherin Prince would ask out The Slytherin Princess.
"You heard me, Elsher. I don't like repeating myself." Draco muttered, specifically remembering his father's instructions. Draco had no interest in asking Inanna Elsher out to the ball, but his father was forcing him to do it. Lucius refused to tell Draco why, but Draco was doing his task anyway because he would take up any chance to impress his father.
"And why are you asking me out to the ball, Malfoy?" Inanna asked, her eyes narrowed. Draco knew Inanna would be tough to crack. She was not naive or gullible, she was highly intelligent and outstandingly cunning. Not to mention her impossible stubbornness.
"Because," Draco began, as he twisted his body to face Inanna even more. Their bodies were now closer, and Draco could clearly feel her warmth. The wind blowed against her hair, making strands fall in front of her face.
She was beautiful.
No! What the fück? This was not an appropriate thought. Draco's own thoughts were appalling to himself.
"Because," He repeated, clearing his throat. "Because Parkinson is annoying me and I don't want to go with her. And I couldn't find any other girl who could live upto the Malfoy name, and I figured you would be good since you are so well-known around the castle." Draco explained. Draco watched as Inanna's face contorted into something close to understanding.
"Ah, so that's why," Draco heard Inanna mumble quietly. It was clear that he wasn't supposed to hear that.
"Why? What else did you think?" Draco asked with a smirk, leaning away from her presence as he became aware of the closeness of their bodies.
"Nothing. Just thought that you suddenly were becoming nicer. But now I know that you becoming nice is like hell freezing over," Inanna said coolly. "But to answer your previous question, no Malfoy, I will not go to the ball with you."
Draco face was relaxed against the chilly wind, but now it had broken into a frown.
"Why? Why will you not go to the ball with me?" He demanded. His ego was hurt to be rejected like that, but he also kind of expected that. I mean, he couldn't really expect to get through the literal Ice Queen so easily, could he?
"I think you already know the answer to that question Malfoy. Go find someone else." Inanna said as she stood up. Draco remained seated down, but he watched as Inanna dusted off dirt, and then straightened her skirt.
"Goodbye, Malfoy." She said quickly, as she walked off, leaving an angry and frustrated Draco behind in the banks of The Black Lake.

A/N:
hiiii. So this was chapter two. This was a little shorter than chapter one so I'm sorry. But I wanted to say that the plot line of the story somewhat follows the actual Harry Potter one, but I will be making changes because if I dont, this book will just not make sense. One thing that I will be changing is time. If you dont know, this book has started from year four (4). Some of the things that I mention throughout this book might not have happened in the actual series. So yeah, I think this was it. Anything that I would like to mention would be in the future author notes.So... bye, this was it.
Happy reading,
