"Y/n!!" Itadori called out as we approached the training fields.
I waved as we got closer, letting my eyes fall onto Fushiguro and Inumaki who were sparring. I was surprised to see how well matched they were.
"He's keeping up well for a first year, especially against someone from the Inumaki clan."
Gojo nodded, "He's actually a Zenin."
"What? Really?" I looked up at him.
"Kind of has a story similar to yours."
I felt bad hearing that, but at the same time, it was nice to know I wasn't alone. He was cold and a bit rude earlier, but maybe we could be friends.
I bit down the inside of my cheek as I looked at Maki, trying to fight away the smile that was forcing its way onto my face.
She watched her peers so intensely as they fought, analyzing their every move. She looked so serious, so thoughtful.
I noticed her holding up a large staff and was curious as to why. Was it part of her technique? Did she always use it to fight?
As if he read my mind, Gojo spoke up, "She's a cursed-tool user."
"Really? Interesting," I mumbled as I kept my eyes locked onto her.
"She's actually a non-curse user. Her cursed energy is beyond lacking."
"What?" I whipped my head up to look at him. "How is that possible?"
He smiled, "You should talk to her and find out yourself."
I sighed as I watched the two boys again. I did want to know more about her. Everything about her. But he was right, I couldn't find out everything from him. I'd have to talk to her at some point.
"I want to fight the Gojo," I looked up to see Kugisaki smirking at me.
I held a blank look on my face as I pushed my glasses further up my nose. I wasn't really interested in fighting her or anyone else.
Whenever I was challenged, I had an overwhelming desire to prove myself, and I hated who I turned into. I preferred to train and work alone.
Gojo looked at me, "Well, Y/n. What do you think?"
"Please don't call me a Gojo," I said as I stared at Kugisaki. "I'm not one. You can call me Y/n."
Gojo sighed, "I meant what do you think about training a bit..."
"Oh. No thank you."
I noticed Maki smirk at me and I immediately felt my heart flutter. Just being acknowledged by her was enough to make me feel like I was floating.
"Mm, scared already?" Kugisaki laughed.
"Not scared. Just not interested."
Her face dropped and she huffed as she stormed over to me, "Think you're better than the rest of us or something?"
I shook my head, "Not in the slightest."
"Then fight me!" she yelled as she pushed me back obviously trying to provoke me. Her antics were childish, but I couldn't lie that it was amusing.
I liked her boldness. I could already tell we were a lot alike... It seemed I might just get a long with most of the Tokyo students.
During my short months at Kyoto, it wasn't as though I didn't like my classmates, I just never gave them a chance. I wanted it to be different this time.
