REECE HARLEY
"Reece honey, wake up." A soft voice whispers in my ear.
"5 more minutes." I mumble, my voice sounding a little groggy.
"But were here." I groan, pushing my face gently off the car window I quickly wipe the drool off my face. My eyes flutter open revealing my mom, staring at me, a ghostly smile playing on her lips.
"Where is here?" I ask her. I seem to have forgotten where we were headed.
"Our new home." With that being said, all of the memories come flooding back.
My dad's funeral, crying my eyes out, comforting my little brother. The last thing I remember is my mom telling us that we're moving to Oregon, I guess I've been pretty distant if I don't even remember packing all of my things.
"Where's Sam?" I glance around the car looking for my little brother. You don't think my mom would forget her youngest child, right?
She laughed slightly. "He's inside, he wanted dibs on the best room."
Of course he did, knowing Sam, he probably has dibs on the biggest room in the house.
Getting out of the car I take a look at the two story house in front of me, it's beautiful. Slightly big for 3 people but, it'll do.
I hesitantly walk inside, observing every little detail. The inside was prettier than the outside. It looked very homey.
I take my time walking up the stairs. At the top of the stairs there was a long hallway. I opened every door seeing what's inside.
When I come across the last door, I slowly open it. What I see is heartbreaking. I sigh as I watch the tears fall from my little brothers eyes, he sits on the floor, cradling his knees.
My brother rarely cries, he always likes to show off his tough exterior, but we all have a weak spot. And I guess my dad dying hit his weak spot.
"Sam." I whisper as I pull him to my chest, gently rocking back and forth.
His hot tears soak my shirt, but at this point I don't care.
"I miss him Reece." Sam murmurs against my shoulder. I rub his back comfortingly as he sobs.
"I know Sammy, me to." You have no idea how much I wish I could bring him back, not just for my sake, but for my brothers sake. He's been a total mess.
Him and my father were very close. And it all ended in an instant. I don't really like to talk about it though.
"Things will get better Sam, I promise." I kiss his cheek, my lips lingering on his tear stained skin for a moment.
"Come on, you need some rest." I use all my strength to move him from the floor to the mattress that sits by the wall. Once he lies down I take the time to look around the room.
Theirs a bathroom, a walking closet and a huge bay window. Of course he still got the best room.
"Mom was right, you did get the best room." I say. He chuckles, sticking his tongue out at me.
I kiss Sam's cheek once more before walking out of his room, quietly closing the door behind me.
With a sigh I run a hand through my hair, flustered.
"Thank you." I jump slightly as I hear my moms voice from behind me.
"For what?" I ask.
"For being there for your brother, I know he misses his dad, but at least he's always got you." My heart breaks even more as a tear slips down her cheek.
