"Can you at least try for me?" Clay said looking at the boy in front of him staring out the window. "Why should I?" George said, not breaking eye contact with the outside world. "George, why would I be here If I didn't care?" Clay said walking over to George. "I don't kn-" George was cut off as Clay had lifted him up and brought him into a hug. "George I love you okay, If you stop trying then I stop trying too" Those words pierced through George's heart. George couldn't express love like the average person. He loved Clay, he really did but expressing it with words was something rather difficult for him. Clay knew how he was and even though George never said it back he always made sure to remind George he loved him. "Look let's go out to eat" Clay offered letting go of George. "Clay, I'm not hungry" George said looking at the ground. "George, I know how you are, I know you're hungry right now. I've heard your stomach growling all day. You haven't eaten since I don't know like probably 30 hours ago" Clay said looking down at the shorter boy with his eyes watering. "Where are we going?" George said, giving in. "Well remember that old diner we used to go to? You loved it so why don't we go again?" Clay asked George. George smiled at Clay remembering all the memories they had there
"Clay hurry up!!" George yelled as he ran to the car. "George, why are you running? I'm the one driving" Clay laughed as he saw George. "George no you can't drive! Your colorblind silly!" Clay said as he watched George enter the drivers side. "Just tell me if it's green or red" George said looking back at Clay walking to his window. "George there's more to that in driving, you've never learned how to drive before" Clay said, opening the car door and signaling George to get out. George sighed as he got out and went to his side of the car. The car rides between them both were always silent. Not because they didn't want to talk but because Clay knew George loved the sight of the trees passing by. Clay looked over at George resting his head on his arm and staring at the world outside
"Hey Clay?" George randomly asked during the ride. "Yeah wassup?" Clay responded confused as George never talks during car rides. "I uhm...I just wanted to say thank you for everything...like your the only person who believes in me and actually cares...you really don't understand how much you mean to me and to be honest I don't think you ever will...but Clay...I love you" George finally told him after years, not in a relationship type way of course "George...there's no need to thank me. I wouldn't be able to do this without you...and I love you too" Clay responded to George. George had never said he loved Clay before because he had a hard time expressing love. Clay was in shock from George's words but he loved it
Clay parked the car at the diner as George happily jumped out of the car. "It hasn't changed one bit..." George smiled looking at the glowing diner in front of them. The mood was perfect outside, it was dark with the stars and constellations showing beautifully. The light beaming off the diners sign, shutting off every once in a while. "Sure hasn't" Clay said, joining George's side
"Come on let's go!" George giggled. Clay loved seeing George like this, George hadn't been outside of the house in months. He was always in bed with no motivation to move, either sleeping or scrolling through twitter. George finally being able to get out of the house and go somewhere he used to love was perfect for him. He was finally getting fresh air again and was getting his body moving. George really needed this, obviously this mood wasn't going to last forever so Clay had to use it the best he could. "Slow down!" Clay giggled as he tried to catch up to George. "Woah" George sighed as he took a step into the diner. Everything was the same, nothing had changed. "Hi can I get a table for you guys?" A sweet lady at the front asked them. George smiled and nodded dramatically. The lady chuckled as she brought them to the middle of the diner and sat them down. They were soon handed menus as Clay looked through them, George already knew what he wanted
"Tendersss" George giggled looking at Clay. "What?" Clay asked confused. "Chicken tenders Clayyyy" George chuckled. "Ohh, okay silly" Clay chuckled back. Soon the waitress came back and picked up their menus. George had gotten chicken tenders with fries and Clay had gotten a burger with fries. "Give me 30 cents" George said, holding out his hand. "Hm?" Clay asked, tilting his head at George. "Pleaseeee" George begged, giving him puppy eyes. Clay jokingly sighed as he handed George 30 cents. George then ran off to a jukebox, he slid in the 30 cents as he turned on a favorite of his. 'Mr. loverman'..."What's this?" Clay asked as George ran over to him and put his hand out. "Dance with me!" George chuckled. "George, no" Clay said embarrassed. "Fine be like that" George jokingly rolled his eyes
