I didn't understand my mothers words but i knew they were a warning I was about to find out something that would effect me. The information I was about to receive would change my point of view on everyone but I couldn't fathom a thought bad enough that would change my point of view on everyone but I couldn't fathom a thought bad enough that would give an idea to what it could be. It was around seven thirty that one of the chefs came to my door to tell me that dinner was ready and that my father was setting the table for the two of us. I gathered my thoughts for a moment before coming out of my room. I walked across the long hall into the dinging room where my dad was sitting at the table already being served what seemed to be only the first course of this meal. I sat down across from him keeping my head in my lap. The chef came around witha plate that had spaghetti noodles covered in red sauce topped with four meatballs the size of tennis balls. The food looked incredible but it was hard to fus when the various of questions were roaming my mind about the confusing phone call I just had with my mother. My dad's voice caught me off guard causing me to slightly jump.
"How was your school year?" He asked.
"Which one are you referring to, you missed quiet a couple"
"It's not like i attened to"
"What does that mean?" I looked up at him confusingly. He obviously knew somethind I didn't and I was more than eager to find out exactly what it was. Instead of answering me he changed the subject.
"Did you start applying for college?"
"No but im pretty sure the one i choose will be far away"
He cleared his throat catching on to my insult. I couldn't take anymore of the tension, I dropped my fork onto the glass plate.
"I'm not very hungry" i stood from the table and began walking to my room. He didn't call me back to the table instead he kept eating away at his food. Bastard.
It was an hour after when I heard a soft knock at the door.
"Come in" I said.
The door opened reveiling my dad carrying a box wrapped in colorful decorative paper. He held it out indicating it was for me. I hesitated to grab the box from his hands but did anyway. I pulled the paper off, inside was a box that had a laptop printed on the front which had to mean there was one inside. I wasn't comfortable with all these gifts.
"Uh- I cant keep this"
"Of course you can"
"You stocked a closet full of clothes for me now your giving me a three hundred dollar laptop. Do you think this will make everything okay?"
"Of course not but it's a start right?"
"Your kidding me right? You think you can buy a daughter? You left for over a decade then you call my mom saying you 'want to see me' sending me on the first flight out here thinking i'd be exited to see you"
"That's not it at all"
"Then tell me what it is!" I yelled at him.
The room was dead silent when my phone began ringing the iphone gingle in my back pocket. I pulled it and it flashed saying my mom was calling. My father looked at me and I knew , he knew it was her but he didn't leave. I picked up the phone.
"Mom"
Sniffles sounded through the phone. "It was my fault"
"What was your fault mom?" I whispered
There was a short pause.
"I had an affair while I was married to your father and that's why he left"
