It was five in the morning.Mono sat up in bed, his back against the backboard. He had the phone from his nightstand, on his lap, the reciever to his ear, the other hand twirling the cord around his finger.
His tired eyes watched the colors and images flash on the television screen. This early in the morning, it hurt to look at it.
The hold music playing over the phone finally cut off, and a female voice sounded through the reciever, "Hello! You've reached the Maw. How can we help you today?" Her cheery voice rang out over the phone.
"Ma'am." He growled tiredly, "I've been trying to reach you for quite some time now..." he says annoyedly.
"My apologies sir. Would you be looking to possibly book a stay?"
"Yes. Do that. I was thinking a weekend's stay if that's possible." Mono said, rubbing his eyes and continuing to fiddle with the cord attached to the phone.
"Oh yes! In fact, you could stay however long you wanted. Even forever," Mono raised an questioning eyebrow as he listened, "with fees of course." The woman said with soft innocent giggling.
"Uh huh..just a week." Mono said dryly.
"Sure thing!"

After all the hassle with the woman on the phone, the booking, and some contact information Mono was informed his stay at the resort would be in three weeks time, and it sure was expensive.
When he had finally gotten off the phone, he decided to come into his kitchen. The shelving, table and island, were dark wood, contrasting with the blank white wall and checkered flooring and dark countertops.
He was at one time optimistic as if the blank walls was a canvas, he had forgotten about it now, and no longer cared about painting it sometime.
A TV sat on the countertop, facing the table. The appliances were a basic white.
Mono got out a shot glass, and his strongest drink. Nobody could object, technically he was alone. Mono didn't mind drinking so early in the morning. He hesitated at first but why should he care if it made him a drunk.
As soon as Mono drank, it came back up as soon as he swallowed. Against his will his body rejected it, and he coughed it out quickly into the sink. It left his throat burning and stinging.
"Fuck you too." Mono growled. He didn't have to look to know who was behind this.
The eyes, popping out of the wall, peered at him, annoyed. They could control him, his thoughts, his mind, and his body. It could do all these things when it felt it was right, and it didnt like a drinking Mono. They were connected.
They peered at him with every color in their iris. They were all different types of eyes.
Mono growled annoyedly, putting the bottle away.
The next three weeks seemed to drag on slowly while Mono was held up in the tower. He could go anywhere but anywhere just didn't feel right at the moment.
He wasn't in the mood to check if Pale City was bustling anymore, though after one week it wasnt, the ship transporting customers left to take them back to where they had come.
Mono sat on his bed after a day of going through his closet for the perfect attire. He wanted to pick his best suits. Mainly cause he was thinking of picking up a girlfriend. Or perhaps multiple.
He didn't want to think about the social skills he would have to pick up to do that, he just decided he'd figure it out sometime.
He felt as if he was a stupid girl, going through his closet like this, and comparing outfits and though nobody was around to see it was awfully embarrassing.
He never thought in his life he'd care so much about clothing as his father did but here he was.
He had demanded the eyes form into a full body mirror in his room so they did so for him. Mono only thought that was right of them since he did so much for them.
He finally sighed, giving up. There were so many good options. He just decided to pick out all different outfits. Of course they were all suits.
His room was a mess, with clothes strewn about so he had to spend his time picking those up after getting his clothing together and all his other packing things. After a long long while, Mono finally had a clean room and one neat suitcase packed with things.
It was heavy but not anything he couldn't handle.
After packing he was left with a boredom. It was only five more days until his cruise but he was not sure how he was going to survive the days locked up here alone. You couldn't exactly play poker or go fish with pairs of eyes. He had tried before, and he refused to play checkers by himself again. It made him feel stupid.
Mono laid down on his bed, very very bored. He hung his legs off the edge and kicked them back and forth gently. A childish habit he refused to let go of.
As he sat there for a while, all the time in the world but no way to spend it, his mind drifted to the lady on the commerical. Probably some slut actress, but she was still beautiful. He felt stupid wondering about her.
He could technically go pick up anybody in Pale City. Men too if he wanted to, but he didn't. Nobody knew him.
Wait...nobody knew him. It made him wonder how many people stopped to think who was behind the construction and renovations and why there was a big transmission tower In the middle of the town.
Mono was behind it all, but he guessed he really did blend in. He wondered what it felt like to be known and be around people. He was going to find out, and he had a good feeling being social wasn't his thing and he started to wonder if he should've booked at all.
He tried to clear his mind. His thoughts always did this. Too many overlapping and spilling everywhere if he thought too much. So he tried to not think. Even though not thinking just made it worse always.
He just sighed, changing the subject, he thought about Six. Oh how he hated that miscreant. You'd think after years he wouldnt but she put him through all this agony, deliberately.
The eyes appeared on the wall, worried. They tried to console Mono, giving him heavy feelings of drowsiness. He could feel it wash over him, as they controlled his body.
"I dont want to sleep!" he growled, knowing they were doing this to calm him. They didn't want him worked up. They didn't want him to think that this was bad.
Mono fought slow desperately but soon his eyes stung as he tried to force them open.
"How can you do this to me?!"
Mono drifted off to sleep.
