The group made it back to the airport in one piece. Charles and Hank were talking with Peter outside while Logan, Erik and Aella waited inside the plane. Aell threw some clothes at Erik after she switched out her right skirt for a pair of pants. She sat down in front of Logan and waited for Erik to get ready, and Hank and Charles to come on the plane.
"You never talk about me." Aella said to Logan.
"Whadda mean?" He asked, laughing a cigar.
"You said Erik and Charles sent you." She paused, "What about me? Where am I in the future?"
Logan took a deep breath and took the cigar out of his mouth, leaning back. Before he could answer, Erik walked out from the back, buttoning up his shirt. He reached for the newspaper that sat in front of Aella and Logan but Logan put his claws out, piercing the paper.
Logan looked up to Erik who did nothing and walked away from them. "Imagine if they were metal."
Logan looked to Aella who rolled her eyes. Soon Charles and Hank joined them on the plane and Aella decided not to sit in the back with the two men who caused her all this pain. She made her way up to the front, with Hank. She sat next to Hank and decided to ask him to teach Aella how to fly the plane. After they took off and Hank ran down some basics of flying, he turned to her.
"You had a picture of you and Charles in your apartment." He said suddenly.
Aella looked up from the controls in front of her, she sighed and shook her head. "So?"
Hank grinned and looked towards the sky. "You claim you don't care about him anymore, but if someone truly means it, they would get rid of such a picture."
Aella looked at Hank. He was right. Aella still had that picture, she hadn't gotten rid of it. It sat on her coffee table as a consistent reminder of what was. She would be lying if she said she missed Charles, she missed the way he was. He had changed, and it brought Aella down. She watched him drain himself from his power, those sleepless nights.
Aella would stay up with Charles as the voices grew worse and worse. She tried to do what Charles had done for her, but Charles knew the trick too well. He would help others, but not himself. She watched from the side, as she could only do so much. Aella reached a breaking point, leaving silently one night, never to return to the mansion again.
To Hank, he was left with her aftermath. Charles only got worse after she had left. When Hank saw Aella gone, in the early morning hours, he knew what effect this would curse upon Charles. And everything he predicted happened. Charles was emotionless about her departure. Taking a dose to dull the pain, he retreated away and Hank nor Charles ever mentioned Aella ever again.
It wasn't until Logan came bursting through the mansion, eight years later, claiming he was from the future did her name get brought up again. At the mention of her name, Charles scuffed and insisted that they didn't need her. Logan pushed it further, because he didn't know what had happened with the two. Logan won their little argument and went to find the young woman. The whole time Charles didn't look to her, didn't even want to see her purple eyes again. Charles saw it like a ghost in front of him, a piece of his past he wished to forget.
But he would be lying to himself if he said he didn't miss Aella.
"Just shut up and fly the plane." She scuffed, which earned a grin from Hank.
Suddenly, a few lights started blinking and the sound of metal bending could be heard throughout the plane. Aella unbuckled herself but was pushed to the side as the plane started to tilt. "Hank level the plane!" She yelled over the alarms.
"I can't!" Hank said trying to hold the plane in the air.
Aella grunted as she tried to use her power to level herself, opening the door to the back of the plane. She saw a mess of plates and glasses all over the floor. Charles holding onto the seats of the plane, Logan buckled in the back, sick as a dog, and Erik standing straight up, not bothered by the plane.
"Angel. Azazel. Emma. Banshee. Mutant brothers and sisters, all dead!" Erik yelled to Charles. "Countless others experimented on, butchered!"
"Erik!" Aella yelled as she stepped towards him. The plane continued to fall and bend with his anger. Aella pushed herself to use her power so she could walk closer to Erik, the purple glow around her.
"Where were you, Charles?! We were supposed to protect them! Where were you when your own people needed you?! Hiding! You, Hank and Aella! Pretending to be something you're not! You abandoned us all!" Erik yelled to Charles again.
"Erik!" Aella heard Hank yell from the controls.
Aella lifted her hands and pushed the plane back to its rightful form, as Erik started to cool down, the plane was brought back. Aella out her hands down as the plane cracked back into form.
"You abandoned us ALL!" Erik yelled one last time.
Charles finally stands himself up, huffing her slides past Aella, looking at her for a moment as he passed her. As they locked eyes, Aella felt the rush of emotions from Charles, something she hadn't experienced in years. As Charles closed himself in the cockpit with Hank, Aella held her head and stumbled into the seat by herself. She heard Logan talk to Erik before her vision stated to come back and her ears stopped ringing.
"You alright?" Logan asked suddenly standing next to Aella.
She looked up to him and blinked, "Yeah it's just..."
"You haven't used your power in some time." Erik interrupted, not looking to them.
"Yeah." She huffed. "I just got dizzy, I'm fine." She brushed them off, sitting back, she closed her eyes.
