f/n ran. the skies were only getting darker, and the thought of ririka finding her only made her more nervous, despite the playful demeanor she had demonstrated in the remaining seconds before the countdown had started.

her legs felt like jelly, her head rushing to process the situation, all at the same time trying her best to subconsciously count to 25.

in the short time she had been away from the cottage, she missed her life when it was a simple, even if it had been a lie, the harsh truth midari seemed to have enjoyed breaking to her.

suddenly, a hand hit her head.

a familiar figure was standing in front of her.
too panicked to react immediately, f/n impulsively turned to run in the opposite direction. afraid to look back, she didn't. not that she had to.

a pair of hands clenched the h/c female's shoulders, pulling her backwards.

"it's about time i get you back. did you learn your lesson?" a sweet voice harmonized through the depths of the night.

f/n looked up in defeat, breaking away from the mildly harsh grasp. of course, if she was to escape from one twin, the other would take her back.

"i suppose so. kirari."

the twin laughed abruptly before glaring at f/n and taking her left hand in hers, almost as if she were a parent guiding their child home after school.
"don't lie. i know ririka got to you, and spoiled you as follows. it's quite ironic, how she tried to fulfill your wishes only to uncover the harsh truth you never could have known, about that cottage."

"weren't you the one who sent me there?"

"good, you were paying attention when i was talking to you. yes i was. don't you think it felt pretty close to heaven, despite it being a extension of my universe?"

"i've been taught that there is beauty in even the most grisly places."

"and everything that is beautiful has just as much of what is misshapen."

before the pair knew it, kirari had taken f/n back to her cold, basement like dorm.
kirari handed f/n cold tea, sitting her down in a red velvet armchair before sitting down in the one across from her.

"f/n, do you know why i sent you there? you were merely a stranger who piqued my interest, and all of sudden you were the only one to have done so."

"i know you're just trying to use me."

"absolutely n... supposedly. i'll be transparent. so you know my true motive. you'll have give me credit for that confession, because here i am, not hiding my motives under any facades." a corner of kirari's thin lips rose as she leaned on her elbow, her head balancing on one of her hands.

"that's wonderful," f/n said sarcastically, "i hope you weren't accusing anyone specific, that last part."

"you'll see."

an oddly comforting silence enveloped the room.

a similar cycle would continue for a few long years. unfortunately for the once-cold twin, nothing was going according to plan. f/n grew to enjoy the dorm. it was a gloomy yet exquisite living space, also possessing an oddly comforting charm.
despite the time that had passed, she didn't know what exactly kirari needed her for, except that she had to do with a potion.
