Detective Jeon Jungkook did not have time to dwell on the state of his relationship with Taehyung. He had a job to do, and the ravishing bachelor had been too much of a distraction. Lupin's trail was growing cold, and Jungkook was very much aware of the amount of catching up he had to do to make progress with this investigation. Which explains why he found himself knocking on the door of the most luxurious suite of London's finest hotel, the Savoy. He checked his pocket watch to confirm he was neither late nor early, and proceeded to knock one more time.

The door finally opened and our young detective thought for a second that he was on the wrong floor. "Kim Namjoon! I did not expect to see you here."

"Ah yes, I was just leaving," replied the bestselling author before turning around to bid one last farewell to Jin, who was casually leaning on the door frame.

Jungkook could not pass up this opportunity. "I'm actually delighted to have run into you by accident. You do remember me, don't you?"

"Did Taehyung introduce us by any chance?"

"Yes, he did."

"Well, it was nice seeing you again."

Namjoon couldn't make it more obvious that he really wanted out of here. But Jungkook was persistent. "I'd like to talk to you regarding this case I'm working on, whenever you are available."

The writer pulled a card out of his inside pocket. "Here's my agent's number. She's in charge of all my work-related schedule. I'm sure she'll be able to make arrangements for us to meet sometime soon," he said hastily before taking his leave.

A sigh by the door reminded Jungkook of the reason which had brought him here in the first place. "Detective Jeon, how may I help you?" asked Jin, stretching his hand out flat.

The inspector looked at it dubiously. The kantanto rolled his eyes and retrieve his fingers promptly. "Silly me, I forgot you were no fan of mine," muttered the singer before turning around. "Come on in, and have a seat."

Jungkook closed the door and walked inside the exclusive suite which was just as lavish as the celebrity's well-known taste for grandiose settings and dramatic effects. Jungkook could not help but take a peek outside the window looking over the Thames. The sight was simply breathtaking.

"So, what brings you here?" asked Jin once more, eager to get this appointment over with.

"Your performance at the Royal Opera House," replied Jungkook straightforwardly.

"Oh please don't tell me you witnessed that horrendous spectacle!" whined the other, pinching the bridge of his nose to hide his embarrassment.

"Actually, I'm not here to talk about your performance—or lack thereof," Jungkook couldn't resist adding quietly. "I'm here because something you wore that evening has caught my attention."

"You should have contacted my costume designer," Jin pointed out, visibly annoyed at the waste of time this meeting was proving to be.

"Oh but I have, and she told me this particular item was yours and that you had insisted on wearing it that night."

Jin squinted. "You noticed my choker?"

"Precisely. Do you still have it by any chance?"

"I do actually. But what is so special about it?" asked Jin, curiosity stirring up within him.

"The design for one thing. May I enquire how you acquired the accessory?"

"It was a gift, from an anonymous fan. Do you want me to get it for you?" Jin offered.

"Yes, please."

Jin entered the bedroom only to come back out a few moments later, holding in his hands a small black velvet box and a piece of paper. "Here's the letter that arrived with it."

For the man with the voice of an angel,

a piece of jewellery to capture that precious talent of yours.

Please wear it on the night of your comeback.

Jungkook's ears were buzzing with excitement. This piece of evidence was proving his theory right. Someone had been set on "capturing" Jin's voice that night. He opened the box and took a look at the culprit: the intricately carved metal and its black silk ribbon did not seem harmful at all. But somehow, they had rendered the kantanto voiceless.

"Would you mind if I bring this to an expert and have it examined more closely?"

Jin leaned forward, interest sparkling in his eyes. "Are you suggesting this is what caused me to go mute on that fateful evening?"

"Well, it's a possibility, but I won't confirm anything until I get an expert's opinion."

The singer nodded. "If this turns out to be true, then I never want to see that trinket ever again!" he voiced, a little shaken at the thought of one of his fans going to such lengths just to play a despicable trick on him.

Jungkook pockets the box and the letter and stands up to leave. "Thank you for your time, Sir."

"Call me Jin. By the way, how are things with Kim Taehyung?"

Jungkook choked. "I — we —"

"Oh no need to be flustered. Everyone I know ships it. We're all just waiting for the Midnight Star to finally print your wedding invitation, which should happen shortly, am I right?"

"I wouldn't get your hopes up."

Jin looked shocked. "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. How about I make us some tea and you can tell me all about it?"

"I really should get going."

Jin's appetite for gossip, however, absolutely needed to be taken care of. "But, don't you want to hear all about me and Joon?" he insisted.

Jungkook tilted his head. "Are you two a thing?"

Jin winked. "Tea first!"
