The Rivalry

All the aristocrats on Star Base 12 knew  about the rivalry between Lord Andrew Charles Howard and his second cousin, Lord Richard William Carey. It started when Lord Charles Andrew Howard JR asked his first cousin once removed to escort Lady Karissa Elizabeth  Ann Lowell up the aisle on February 2, 2275 when she married his youngest son, Lord Andrew Charles Howard.

They were both the great grandsons of Lord Frederick William Howard but Lord Andrew Charles Howard was the grandson of Lord Charles Andrew Howard JR whereas Lord Richard William Carey was the grandson of Lady Sophia Charlotte Howard and her husband, Lord George Carey.

Lord Richard William Carey was a direct descendant of Lord Thomas Howard the 2nd Duke of Norfolk Territory through both his wives, Lady Elizabeth and Lady Agnes Tinley and their children, Lady Elizabeth Howard and Lord William  Howard, whereas Lord Andrew Charles was only a direct descendant of Lord Thomas Howard, Duke of Norfolk through his eldest son by Lady Elizabeth Tinley, Lord Thomas Howard 3rd Duke of Norfolk.

It was Lord William Howard's son Lord Charles Howard that married Lady Catherine Carey the granddaughter of Lady Mary Boleyn and Lord William Carey and she was the daughter of Lord Henry Carey 1st Baron of Hudson, who was the son of Lord William Carey and Lady Mary Boleyn who was the eldest daughter of Lady Elizabeth Howard and Lord Thomas Boleyn.

They were second cousins as Lady Elizabeth Howard's half brother was Lord William Howard.

Lord Richard William Carey came from The Howard side through his mother and father and he was a proud man and on the day that he had to escort Lady Karissa up the aisle he just knew that he had to somehow take Lady Karissa away from Lord Andrew Charles Howard.

Lady Karissa informed him that she was six months pregnant with Lord Andrew Charles and her first child and it was  a daughter and he explained " My first cousin once removed asked me to escort you up the aisle and out of respect for him I agreed."

Lord Richard William escorted Lady Karissa up the aisle and when they reached the altar Lord Richard William Carey reluctantly placed Lady Karissa's hand in Lord Andrew Charles hand and he took his seat in the chapel.

Lord Richard William Carey was a favorite second cousin of Lord Thomas William Howard and Lord Frederick William Howard III along with Lord John Seymour and Lord Henry Grey and he was already in contact with them to bring Lord Andrew Charles down.

Lady Karissa asked Lord Richard William to wait until Lady Elizabeth came to age and he agreed.

Lord Andrew Charles was aware of Lord Richard William Carey's attraction for Lady Karissa , but he wasn't aware of Lady Karissa's attraction for Lord Richard William Carey until shortly after the birth of Lady Samhain in 2276 she recommended that he take a mistress and that she would take a lover and Lord Andrew Charles asked her who did she have in mind and she pointed to Lord Richard William Carey.

"Lord Richard William Carey is my second cousin. He escorted you up the aisle on our wedding day don't you remember?" Lord Andrew Charles asks her.

"I had no idea who he was when he escorted me on our wedding day." Lady Karissa states,  "I didn't have time to ask him his name." 

"I am Duke of Norfolk Territory but I don't have the power to ask Lord Richard William Carey to be your lover Lady Karissa." Lord Andrew Charles explains. "I do know that he has feelings for you." 

"You can summon him to me Lord Andrew Charles and I will take it from there." Lady Karissa tells Lord Andrew Charles.

Lord Richard William Carey was the rugged, outdoorsy type of gentleman. He liked to work with his hands, and the people in his territory loved him as he was kind, generous, and warm to his people.
