Chapter 22

Okay don't kill me I know that last on was short but I accidentally published it and then I had to quick fix it so I'm sorry. But here!

Wills POV
I heard Nico say it saw us. Great. First it took me the longest time to get him out of a trance. I don't know what happened, but Dr. Thorn sounded familiar... And a manticore with Nico. I felt like there was a story but I didn't have time to think about it, I needed to get him out of here.

"Where do we go? What should we do?" I asked. I had a feeling Nico had dealt with one before.

"I-I don't know they're really fast I've never fought one though..." Nico started but mumbled something about Percy and Annabeth I think.

"Okay find Percy and Annabeth." I said. "But how?" I had no idea, but Nico wasn't very helpful right now. "I've got it. The list. Nico give it to me." Nico fumbled around in his pocket and pulled out the list. "They've got to be at one of these spots." I waited for Nico to respond but I knew I wasn't gonna get one. Think Will, where could they be? Or better yet where could they not be?

"Well they aren't here, and we didn't see them at the-THATS IT! Nico we need to go to the Empire State Building. Jason and Piper will see us and then they can help."

"Okay." Was all I got but it was better than nothing. We needed to be fast though, because that thing was gaining on us. I knew what could work, and I was going to regret this.

"Nico. How do you feel about shadow traveling?" He looked at me confused.

"I guess I could I think I'm fine."

"I need you to shadow travel us toward the building but still in sight of the manticore." He grabbed my hand and ran under a shadow of a tree. Suddenly we were about thirty feet ahead. I turned to Nico. He seemed alright but I knew he was only going to be able to do that a few times.

We kept running and running and running. When it got too close Nico shadow traveled. I was so scared he'd go into the shadow holding my hand and I'd come out alone. But we had no choice. Plus we were in sight of the Empire State Building, I just hoped Jason and Piper would see us. One more jump was all we needed, but Nico was not looking very strong. He was slowing down.

"Nico don't do it." I said to him. I knew what he was thinking, and he was not going to do it.

"Will I have to." He said taking my hand. Then I felt it. I hated shadow traveling like all of me was disintegrated and then put back together. But I wasn't being put back together, I was still not together when I should have been a full human again. I could slightly see my self and Nico next to me holding my hand. We were like very faint ghosts. I knew what happened. Nico couldn't finish the journey and as long as I was holding on to him neither could I.

He looked at me and I knew. He couldn't push both of us back just one. He looked at my hand. No. Don't do it. But he did. He unlaced his fingers from mine. I shut my eyes. Suddenly I could feel the air again. It was cold. And I knew very well I was alive. But no one was holding my hand.
