"Why do you always do this?" Rubi complained.
"I'm sorry okay?"
"No , no just tell me why. We've been together for 2 months and I can't even touch you the way I want to. You only kiss me when you're drunk? I don't understand Kehlani."
The tatted woman sighed. Kehlani truly loved Rubi but she wouldn't allow herself to be intimate with the other woman. She couldn't.
"Rubi you know I can't,"
"Yeah but I don't know why,"
Kehlani rubbed her temples , sitting on her couch.
Kehlani was something that she didn't want Rubi to know.
"I can't kiss you when my memories are still," Kehlani spoke lowly.
Rubi's left eyebrow raised.
This is something Rubi was familiar with.
"Rubi , honey go hide okay?" Her father stood over her. Kissing his daughters forehead.
"I love you." He looked into the small child's eyes.
"I love you too daddy," she giggled, "don't be scared it's just a game," she cheesed.
He nodded. "Be very quiet. Hide in the best spot. Do not come out until i tell you to okay?"
The young girl nodded. Running out of her fathers grip after a tight hug.
Her dad (Kyle) went into his room. Grabbing his favorite weapon from his safe. A simple glock 44. The one he could use with his eyes closed. Then stepping into the kitchen.
A man broke through the door. Suge. But this, Kyle was expecting. This was the same man that killed his wife. The mother of his child. And he didn't even know how.
"I'll kill yo ass Suge,"
"Don't you wanna know how she died?"
Kyle froze. Nodding his head no hesitation.
Rubi peek through the door underneath the sink. Seeing her dad and a big man she's never seen before. Who are they talking about?
"I can give you all my memories,"
"Fuck that mean?" Kyle furrowed his eyebrows, gripping his gun. Holding it still.
"Do you wanna see?"
Kyle didn't answer.
Suge pulled out his revolver. Pointing it up, aiming and shooting. Split between the eyes.
"I can see her," a subconscious voice came from kyles body as he dropped. His gun sliding near the sink. Near Rubi's hiding spot.
"God I hated those memories,"
Rubi moved from under the sink. Grabbing her fathers gun and shooting it. Lucky for her it wasn't on lock, and it was already cocked back.
"NO WHATS WRONG WITH YOU!" He shouted.
Another shot in his stomach.
"NO NO NO THE TIMELINE SHE HASNT GROWN UP YET,"
Another shot in his chest.
Rubi looked around. Puddling blood filling the space around her.
"I thought you could only kill for memories..." Rubi spoke low.
"What? How do you know?"
"Explain what you're saying,"
"Well when I was younger my father was killed. All his memories went to me,"
"Suge?"
"Yes.. how'd you know?"
"I thought his memories went to my dad," Rubi thought deeply, shuffling through her memories. She didn't have her dads memories. Some people don't get them.
"Only specific memories," she corrected Rubi. "I have the rest. Some memories are missing,"
"Well how come I never got my dads memories?"
"Because.. memories can't be transferred as fast. When my dad died some of his memories went to your dad. But he died at the same time meaning his memories were being mixed with my dads so transferring them to you was too destructive."
"Will I ever get his memories?" Rubi say back on the cough. Realizing that she could never understand this unless she knew what her dad knew.
"Sometimes they seep in but you were so young,"
".. is this what you were trying to protect me from?"
Kehlani nodded her head. "I didn't know if the little girl in my memories was you... I fell for you Rubi. Sexual contact channels memories to people who are in your memories. I didn't want to risk it and scare you away."
"There's too many rules to these memories," Rubi stressed.
"If I get super wasted we can," Kehlani smiled
"No, I wouldn't feel right. When your dad learned about memories who did he go to? Maybe we can reverse it,"
"There's no reversing it. This curse or whatever it's been years,"
"Well how many more memory babies are left,"
"Even if we knew how would we find them,"
"Maybe my dad knew something, maybe I can channel his memories,"
"He's gone Rubi. It's been years. We can love from a distance,"
"Kehlani what about people who have memories that are destroying them inside? We have to do something,"
"Whatever you want to do.. we can do,"
