Sam waited outside as Y/N and Bucky went to meet with Zemo. A security guard escorted them down a short hallway. In Front of them was a cell. In the cell there was a man obscured by shadows. He began speaking in another language but both of them understood what he was saying. "longing, rusted, daybreak, seventeen."

Y/N punched the glass of the cell and growled, "stop."

He looked at her surprised. Before he could speak Bucky interrupted, "it's fine Y/N. I'm not that person anymore."

Zemo moved closer to the glass and stared at Bucky. "I know, I just wanted to see how you would react. If maybe some part of you is still him, The Winter Soldier," he explained.

Bucky stared blankly through the glass. And Y/N glared at the man behind it.

Uncomfortable with the silence Zemo spoke again, "I am sorry for what I did to you. It wasn't personal, you were just a means to an end."

Y/N rolled her eyes at his statement. She had her own experience with justifying her crimes and she knew exactly what he was doing. "You keep telling yourself that. Anyways enough small talk. There are more like us." She pointed at Bucky and then at herself. "And we need you to help us find out how," she finished.

Zemo looked at her and then at Bucky, "meaning?" He asked

Bucky replied, "Super soldiers."

Zemo paced around his cell. "You think Hydra has something to do with this, that's why you need me. You must really be desperate-"

Y/N interrupted him, "Do you have anything or are we wasting our time?"

The man let out a laugh. If you could call it that. It sounded tired and pained, but there was a hint of humor. "Yes, I know where to start," he said.

With that the guard in the prison told us it was time to leave.

Bucky nodded at Zemo and then made his way out of the room. Y/N did not like the look on his face. It was his thinking face. It was not much different from his other faces, but she could tell he was thinking.

So as they entered the main hallway of the prison Bucky was grimacing in thought and Y/N was grimacing in worry. Sam was waiting there for them and he asked, "So, how did it go?"

Bucky shook his head and grabbed Y/N's arm "Wait in the car Sam, there's something Y/N and I need to talk about," he muttered. He reluctantly went to the car, wondering what they were saying.

Once he was out of earshot Y/N spoke up. "I don't like that face, what are you planning Bucky?" she asked.

He took a moment to look at the ground before he answered. He looked into her eyes and began to speak in a code language they both knew from their days at Hydra, "We need to break Zemo out."

She laughed at him dryly "No."

"He said he had information about the serum," Bucky calmly explained. "Nope nope, no way. Not happening. We are not breaking a war criminal and international terrorist out of jail," She whined getting more exasperated at his plan by the second.

"Oh come on Y/N, I heard you talking to Sam. I know you think he deserves a second chance," He replied. That was true Y/N did think that Zemo could change. And she was still fighting a feeling of pity for him. But she knew that couldn't get in the way of her better judgement to protect her friend.

She furrowed her brows and then responded, "Yeah but that was before I met him. I mean you walked in there and the first thing he did was try to manipulate you. I just don't think we can trust him."

Bucky nodded at this and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Me neither. That's why you're going to make sure we can trust him," He said.

"Oh and how am I going to do that?" Y/N asked. At this point she was intrigued on some level as to how he planned to pull off this insane plot.

Bucky answered her question with what felt like a mission objective, "Play nice, get him under your control and make sure he doesn't betray us. I know I'll be able to trust him because I know I can trust you." That she could work with.

"Fine, but my expertise is not in prison breaks. So you can figure that out yourself." Prison breaks weren't his field of expertise either so she wondered what sort of plan he was cooking up. But she didn't bother to ask, in the interest of time of course.

"That's okay, I've already set the plan in motion. Me and Sam are going to get a cab to a secure location. All I need you to do is drive Zemo to the address I give you," He explained. She sighed and nodded.

"You owe me big time for this."

"Oh, I'm counting on it," He said with a smile.
