“Gaara~~~~”, I Whined.

“What.” He replied. His voice was sharp and cold, like the icy winds in my home village.

“Burr... did it get cold in her, or is it just you?” I said mockingly.

Gaara rolled his eyes at me, but I saw a hint of a smile cross his face. “What is it Tsuki?” His voice was still harsh, but at least it wasn’t subzero like before.

“I’m bo~~red. What can I do?” I whined again.

It was just the two of us in the house, Temari and Kankuro left yesterday for a mission of some sort. They were traveling rather far, so they wouldn’t be back for a few weeks. Normally Gaara would go with them on long missions, but they knew I couldn’t come so they made him stay here to ‘keep me company’. Right. Gaara and I both knew that the real reason why they made him stay here was to make sure I didn’t burn the house down or something stupid like that. I’m 17 years old, yet they think I need a babysitter.

Currently, I’m laying on the couch, sort of. Half of my body is on the couch while my head and upper torso is hanging over the arm to look at Gaara. He is sitting in the armchair in the corner of the room with his nose buried in some dusty old book.

“Gaara~~~ I asked you a question.” I said a bit more loudly.

He didn’t even look at me, “Watch T.V. or read a book.”

“Gaa-nuki~~~ you know I hate watching T.V. and all of the books in this house are old and dull. I mean, who would want to read,” I squinted at his book but couldn’t make out the entire name, “The Battle of whatever it is, other than you?” I looked at him with one eyebrow raised.

He turned the page, “I told you not to call me that, and this was a very popular book 50 or 60 years ago.”

“Well now it is considered unpopular and I’m bored.” I pouted

“He looked at me over the edge of his book and sighed, “Find something to do then.”

“Will you play a game with me?” I stuck out my bottom lip and gave him my best puppy dog face.

“No.”

I rolled over and sat on my knees, facing Gaara and sniffled.

“Tsuki.” He said in a warning tone.

I rested my chin on the arm of the couch and whimpered.

He glanced up at me, “Stop that.”

“Stop what?” I asked innocently.

“You know what.” I noticed how the empty areas where his eyebrows should be scrunched up when he took another glance at me.

Hook.

“But Gaara-ku~~n!”

“No.” He shifted himself in his seat so that his book covered his view of me.

“Why not?” I pouted.

He lowered his book to look me in the eyes, “I don’t play games. He glared at me, and any normal person who got that glare was guaranteed to die within seconds. But not me. I pester him until I get what I want.

Sabaku no Gaara didn’t scare me, and he knew it. Whenever he get’s mad, it just reminds me of a grumpy faced little kitten. He looks like he’ll bite your hand off if you touch him, but he’s still an adorable kitten. I thought it was kinda cute when he glared at me.

“Why though?”

“Because games are for children.”

“So?”
