anyway, here's a romantic take on their meet up !

-

Sapnap had at least expected to make it on the plane and out the state before he accepted what those longing glances were.

However, fate and his heart worked alongside each other to doom him to the despair of realizing in the airport lobby, gazing upon the many kiosks and their attendants. His knuckles were white from where they curled around the handle of his luggage, and with his free hand he pulled his baseball cap further down his forehead.

For the duration of his stay, things had been weird to say the least. The first night had been the worst, next to the night he had thrown up, due to the awkward tiptoeing they had done. Karl was of course his bubbly, welcoming self, but Sapnap couldn't bring himself to feel the confidence he did behind a screen.

Oh, the touching- that had thrown him off balance the first time Karl had done it. Sitting at his computer and running after Niki on the SMP, Karl leaned over his shoulders and rested his hands on the keyboard, chest pressed against Sapnap's back.

It had taken everything he had not to flinch or react until the brunet pulled away.

Or even when he painted his nails for him, Karl had mostly been bright for the camera, but genuine with his movements. Sapnap had fat-fingered a bottle of nail polish, and Karl had casually leaned over to grab it back. Embarrassing, his mind repeated, over and over.

The camera had been his biggest fear at first. Being projected to thousands of people online, every pore of his face presented to the audience. But Karl made it feel so natural, so nice. He got used to it quickly.

At first, it was just Karl who would occasionally sling an arm around Sapnap, or cling to him randomly. It had been the Mr Beast jackbox game that had been Sapnap's first dip into the world of physical love language.

He remember hyping himself up, assuring that it would be fine and nothing out of the ordinary. But the moment he lifted his arm to put it around Karl's shoulders, Karl sat down closer to Chandler, oblivious and always so smiley.

Sapnap bit his lip to stop a flush passing by his face at the mortification his plan had failed, but he was determined to say the least. Later in the session he reveled in the success of his efforts, a triumph of victory as Karl curled into his side and his arm around his neck.

There had been some awkward part, he recalled, where Chandler had begun acting like some sort of cat, rubbing against Karl like he was a potted catnip plant.

Wave of sickening jealousy had washed over him, pulling at his heart and playing with his head. He shouldn't care- Karl acted like that with everyone. This wasn't specific to him.

But, privately, he wished that it was.

Checking his phone revealed it was an hour until his flight, and security would most likely take half of that. Karl had dropped him off barely ten minutes ago, their goodbyes mixed with tight hugs and affectionate sayings.

He missed it, so badly, already. Waking up to Karl and his, god, his never failing to be the brightest one in the room. Sapnap wanted that, wanted to call him his- but that was just a pretty dream.

Before arriving in North Carolina, Sapnap hadn't been sure where they had stood. He knew there was something with Karl he didn't have with Dream- no, when he saw Dream in person he didn't have the urge to hug him, or put his hands on him to assure himself that he was real. What he had with Karl, was something he had never had with someone else.
