Two weeks had passed, when Tony came to visit Eric in the hospital. With a heavy heart, Tony explained his role in Elisa's death. Shock and horror-filled Eric's face! His emotions bubbled out of control and he began to yell and scream at Tony. Astonishingly, Elisa entered the room! The yelling halted abruptly. Eric and Tony tried to speak, but their words fell silently unspoken.
Awkwardly, Elisa broke the silence. She began to explain what actually happened that dreadful night. She had in fact fallen from the cliffs, but she landed on a ledge only 20 feet below, causing her to break her leg. A passing stranger found her the next morning and took her to live with his family. Elisa stayed until her leg healed. But she couldn't really remember who she was. After several months, small bits of her memory returned. She finally found her way home, but she felt something was wrong. She left without talking to anyone in her family.
Elisa, feeling like she wanted to connect with Eric, left the tape recorder for him on the beach. She wanted to reveal what had actually happened. Elisa did not want to find Tony but stumbled upon him anyway. She shared the message and the tape recorder with Tony who placed it on the beach for Eric to find. Tony knew the truth but continued to hide it from his son.
