Chapter 7 - I Was Free...
----
"No!" My body struggles in the arms of the two men who continue to drag me along the hallway.
"No please! No!" I call out, trying to free my wrists from their grip.
The men keep walking along, dragging me with them. They turn the corner and we come to an open doorway. I get gently shoved inside and one of the men swiftly shuts the door behind me, locking it as he does. I run up to the door and bang on it, screaming out at the tiny window.
I shake my head in utter disbelief and turn around, walking over the bed and curling myself up in a ball. My body becomes numb as I lay there, a feeling of familiarity hits me.
A short time passes and Derek comes into the room, quietly taking a seat on the bed behind me. I hear him sigh and smack his lips, "I want you to get better. So stop worrying about everything. Everything is going to be alright. You just need to be alone for a while. No distractions. Until you feel more like yourself again."
I feel one of his hands place onto my back, he holds it there for a few seconds before pulling it away and standing up from the bed. He shuffles towards the door and he exhales, "Lillian, I love you."
The door closes and I feel a sharp pang in my chest. My heart sinks and thoughts of doom fill my head. I pull my arm over my head and bury myself deeper into the bed, a feeling of hopelessness lingering over.
----
"Lily? Lily?" The soft whispers of Loki enter my ears making me slowly awaken from my haze.
"Lillian?" He calls out again and I roll over and mumble incoherently, dopped up on medication.
"Loki..." I manage to form, trying to straighten myself out and focus.
"Oh god. Lily, what is going on?"
I gently sit up from the bed and lean on my arm, my eyes scan around the room, "Derek put me in here. I think that he thinks I'm having an affair."
"So he locks you up? Can he even do that?"
"I don't know. I'm afraid of him." My words are weak as I lay myself back down and pull the blanket over the side of my head, "I don't know what he's going to do to me."
"God why do you feel so foggy? What're they giving you?"
"Derek gave me some pills earlier on. I had to take them. He told me to take them so I took them." I feel a small panic arise in my chest as I think about my husband feeding me drugs.
"Where are you? Do you know?"
"I- I don't know, maybe. I think it's the Hopkins Clinic. It's a mental institution." I sigh and shake my head on the pillow.
"Your husband ought to be a permanent resident darling." I hear the background noise and my eyes widen in shock.
"Are- Are you on a plane?" I place my hand over my mouth and feel my heart skip a beat.
"I'm headed your way. I had to take the Bifrost to get here but I'm catching a plane over to your small town."
I smile and slowly sit up in the bed once more, this time going up all the way. Loki clears his throat and touches his wrist, "Listen, I'll be there soon. I'll be talking to you real soon darling."
My head bobs up and down and I softly touch the side of my face, imagining it was his. He softly grunts and places his own hand on his cheek which in turn sends a chill through my nerves.
