I've noticed I missed out some key information, such as why Deku called Shoto, Todoroki-kun.
I forgot to add in a conversation. It's basically where his friends ask him a good nickname for him so he said they could call him Todoroki.
He didn't tell them that it was his birth name/ real last name and he felt uncomfortable with them calling him Haku.
He told them that his 'old friends' called him Todoroki because it was his middle name, where in reality he just didn't want them calling him Haku.
They agreed and thought it was a cool and unusual thing to call someone by.
