Zayn hasn't been having dinner at home for a while, Liam doesn't think much about it but it does worry him when Zayn comes back breathless but happy.
Some days he'd give Liam a few snacks and watch Liam scream 'SNACKS' while running around the house like a puppy who's chasing after a snack
But Zayn knows Liam isn't really happy, he sees the way Liam's zones out, the way his smile would drop when his parents are mentioned, how he's always in his thoughts, how he eats like a bird
Zayn wants to make him happy but he doesn't know How he can do it so quickly?!
Liam acts happy in front of him, like he (Zayn) doesn't know him (Liam) like the back of his hand.
He knows Liam isn't actually happy, he knows more than people think he does. He isn't an asshole everyone believes he is, he just wants Liam to be happy
But there isn't much he can do

They were now visiting colt since it's one of the few times Liam is actually happy, Colt was seated on Zayn's lap but playing with Liam's hands after Liam poked his dimpled cheek
"Zee is boring. All he does is work"
Zayn gave Liam an offended look "Heyyy"
Liam laughed and poked Colt's cheek when he giggled
"You know it's true love"
"I throw Li in our pool" Zayn whispered (loud enough for Liam to hear) while looking at Liam
"OUUUUUUU, I WANNA BE THROWN INTO A POOL!"
Liam laughed and shook his head "If your future family has a pool, jump into it"
"Nooooo. I wanna be thrown into one, like Zee did to you!"
"It's not safe Colt"
"Did you get hurt?"
"Well no-"
"Then it's safe"
"Colt. Just because I didn't get hurt doesn't mean it's safe"
"Did you throw Zee in?"
"No, Zee can't swim"
"WHAAAAAT?"
"I know" Liam said pulling Colt to his lap "Zee is this big bad alpha dog who throws me into a pool but he can't swim"
"Ouuuu, Zee is a pool scaredy cat"
"Yes. Yes he is!"
Zayn rolled his eyes and leaned back on the chair and crossed his arms, he saw Liam and Colt laughing and giggling about the most random things
He knows once They're back home Liam will probably be in his fake happy zone so he'll let it slide
Happy Liam, happy Zayn

Liam looked at Zayn "I get an owl from headmistress Mcgonagall" Liam nodded "she wants me to teach defence against the dark arts for a year"
"That's great Zee!"
"Yeah... but I don't want to leave you"
"Oh my god, Zayn. You don't have to worry"
