~Evelyn's POV~

Through the whole rampage of when my brother was shot to the hospital now was a blur. My thoughts jumbled up, not thinking clearly. Probably because my eyes were blurry, I didn't recognize anyone around me.

"Ace!" I remembered saying, "No...no, no, no, no," I had remembered saying that as I collapsed next to him unsure of what to do.

"What are you doing?" I recalled yelling at someone, people restraining me as I watched people take away Ace's unconscious body. I almost got out of their iron grip, that is until someone decided to stab me with a needle.

Right now, I had a drink in my hand and I could barely hold it. "H-hey," Kai said sitting next to me just as shaken up. "D-do you think Ace will be fine?" I said softly, my voice unnervingly timid, scared, and fragile.

"Ace is a lot stronger than you think, he'll pull through...." Kai's last word hung in the air. Even though it was a complete sentence and nothing needed to be added, we both knew a last word hung in the air.

Hopefully. Hopefully was the word, we don't know if he would or not. I had no clue where he had been shot.

I took a shaky breath as I remembered the blood everywhere smothered everywhere by the both of us colliding.

"Evelyn Oshiro," I heard someone say. I look up to see a guy with black hair, dark eyes that were behind a pair of glasses. "Yes?" I asked daring to hope that he'd say something good.

"May...I talk to you?" He asked, his voice not betraying any hint of emotion just like his face.

I put my cup on the chair and as my hands shook I wrapped myself tighter in the blanket I was given.

"Is Ace okay?" I asked harshly, my eyes looking for any trace of information in his lost eyes.

He turned to look at me and said, "Ah, well, it seems that your brother is in a coma," I stepped back, taking in a silent sharp breath.

"W-what?" I said, as if I couldn't hear him, being told that he was in a coma scared me more than being told that he had already died.

"He's in a coma," I repeated, my body becoming weak again.

Just an hour ago, my heart swelled at the sound of our voices, singing as one.

Now, I couldn't stop shaking in anger, fear, fright, sadness, and something else on the tip of my fingers, probably knowing that one day, he might actually die, knowing that if he were to, it would be soon, maybe even years...in that lifeless state.

"I'm truly sorry for your misfortune," he said closing the folder he was holding, "he was a good classmate of mine," I clenched my hands into fists, my knuckles turning white, my nails digging into my hand so that it hurt, but I didn't care.

"Don't say you're sorry for anything," I said stiffly, hoping I wouldn't betray my self control. "Ace wouldn't want anyone feeling bad for his choices; he doesn't do anything he regrets,"

The guy tilted his head and said, "And how would he know he won't regret it later, especially in his studies?"

I searched his eyes, not seeing any sorrow for my half loss.

"Well," I said, "I do believe my brother knows what choices to take, he's aiming to become a business man, you'd know about it if you two were as close as you claimed,"

When I couldn't find any sorrow from his empty waste of breath, I said, "I've never seen him pull back from what he faced head on by choice, he's on scholarship here, he has money in a savings account for me but I believe he's only used that money for me, he could use it for himself but he doesn't because somewhere inside himself he thinks that amount could be the thing that saves my life,"
