y/n was having trouble speaking, slurring and mumbling her words. She was having trouble staying awake as well and her status was at its worst. Her weight was below underweight, IBM was also at the lower part of the scale and the sugar in her blood was too high. Her heart was still beating but time between beeps were long and slow.
"Tooru?" She was weak and her words were incoherent.
"Yes y/n?" I was holding onto her hand as I watched her slowly slip in and out of consciousness.
"Tell me you love me. Even if you don't mean it"
"I do love you y/n. Very much."
"Since when?"
"Since that weekend at Osaka when you looked so beautiful sleeping in my arms."
"Really?" I nod and start tearing up, wiping my tears on my shoulder. "Please don't cry. No birthday boy should be crying."
"It's not my birthday though."
"Whatever same thing." She smiles with all her night but couldn't hold it for long. "Lets sleep. I'm pretty tired." I nod as she made space for me in her bed. I held her in my arms delicately, letting the tears flow down as she starts to sleep in the comfort of my arms. "I'll see you soon Tooru. We still have to celebrate your birthday" I nod and kiss her head, trembling as I pulled back from her.
She was still in my arms as I listened to the long beeps of the machines. Even at the long waits between beeps, it reassured me she was still in my arms. I kept my chin on top of her head, holding her in fear that she might slip away before I had the chance to say goodbye.
"Don't leave me tonight." I whisper into her ear before letting myself fall asleep in the comfort of her presence.
It's only been an hour but I couldn't bring myself to fall asleep. "y/n?" I nudge her awake and she groans in response. "I wish I had a bigger infinity with you." She curls her lips and furrows her eyebrows. I made the wish statement she hates so much. "But that doesn't mean I'll never cherish our little infinity, no matter how small it may be." I bring her face to mine, holding onto her loosely but tight enough that she could keep her head up. I bring my face closer to hers and let our lips touch. Even though it was chapped and the feeling was rough, I couldn't bring myself to pull back. Finally, I let her lips go and stare into her star filled eyes.
"I love you, Tooru." She whispers before her eyes started to fall.
"I love you more y/n. No matter what happens."
