roommates, huh? they wonder how long can they stay together without slitting each other's thoat. bitna using mark's—the boy was more used to his english name—former room isn't as bad as she thinks, is it?

donghyuck's apartment is actually quite huge: two bedrooms with one guestroom, kitchen and dining area, living area, bathroom, and a built in mini studio—and the whole unit is located on the top floor! she's pretty sure the space is customized by donghyuck since she heard from mark that donghyuck's family owns the apartment building. she sure doesn't have a reason to find another place to stay at—well of course except for the fact that her housemate does everything in his power to make her leave.

“fuck you lee donghyuck,” bitna couldn't help but to mutter a string of curses under her breath as she scan their unit bathroom full of bubbles on the floor making the whole space strongly smell like a laundry detergent. great, she's gonna need a lot of time to clean the floor and make it not slippery.

donghyuck, who has just left the bathroom while drying his hair with towel, laughed at her with no remorse written on his face, “oh how you wish you can, moon bitna.”

it's already her third week living with donghyuck so she got used to her roommate's antics already so she just decided to show her anger by rinsing and draining the bathroom as she is actually in a hurry since she's gonna be late for her class. bitna didn't forget to throw donghyuck's toothbrush on the bowl before she proceeded to take a quick shower.

donghyuck and bitna had always hated each other. it's just because of a petty best friend jealousy, nothing too deep though. being one of the closest friends of the one and only mark lee, they found themselves passive-aggressively competing on senseless things such as who mark spends more time with, who makes mark laugh louder, and who does mark love more. another cause of their childish fight is being too similar with each other that mark can't stop gushing about how much he loves that both of his best friends are so alike.

they always manage to get on each other's nerves. yup, too alike.

“i bet your class is already starting,” donghyuck played with his keys with his finger while sitting on the sofa comfortably.

bitna rolled her eyes as she slung her bag on her shoulder and tried to tie her hair into a ponytail, “yeah? and whose fault is that—”

“want a ride?”

donghyuck stopped playing with his keys and trailed his eyes on bitna's as the latter furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. why the hell is he suddenly acting nice? she asked herself while recalling if something happened to her roommate these past few hours.

“don't you have classes?” she raised her eyebrow, still confused why he suddenly asked her about driving her to university.

good thing they aren't attending the same university though. who knows what will happen when they live under the same roof and also study in the same lecture hall? hell.

donghyuck shrugged, “i still have a lot of time.”

“are you sure—”

he rolled his eyes at her reaction as he stood up, “mark asked me to give you a ride to your uni, okay?” he was walking towards the unit door when he suddenly stopped and faced bitna again, “can you ride a motorcycle or should i use the car instead?”

“are you trying to kill me by making it look like a car accident?”

with that question, donghyuck laughed again as he shook his head, “motorcycle it is.”

bitna was trying hard to grasp on her seat to not fall during the ride when donghyuck grabbed her arm and wrapped it around his waist, muttering something like hold on me. other than that, the ride was awfully silent and the next moment someone spoke between the two of them was when bitna thanked donghyuck for the ride while running her way towards her class.

“is donghyuck nice to you?” mark asked bitna when she sat infront of him in the cafe they agreed to meet up at.

does he know his best friend is a menace? bitna massaged her temple, feeling tired because of her classes and thinking of what donghyuck might pull on her later, as she drank the chocolate milkshake mark has ordered for her. “he's okay, i guess?”

it also isn't like this is the first time they met. mark, being the peacemaker that he is (or fish maker, as what jisung sometimes call him), already has set up hangouts multiple times with donghyuck and bitna and the two were always forced to act like there's no beef between them unless they wanted to see mark gloomy—and they're not gonna let it happen. never.

“figured,” her best friend shrugged as he played with the straw of his watermelon shake. “he's playful but he's a sweet person. i bet you're already close with each other by now.”

oh my poor best friend doesn't know how bad his other best friend want me to leave his apartment immediately, bitna closed her eyes tight.

mark looked like he remembered something, “by the way, do you know why was he late earlier? he told me he overslept but i know he was lying. do you think he has a problem?”

no way, bitna thought. he told me he still has a lot of time! “is it because he drove me to my uni? he used his bike.”

“donghyuck let you on his motorcycle? damn, you really got close, huh,” mark grinned at the thought.

so donghyuck has a conscience, huh? she thought as she learned that her roommate drove her on his own will since he might have felt bad on making bitna late in class. bitna realized that maybe, just maybe, donghyuck isn't as bad as he make himself seem to be.
