“—i knew you’d eventually date. you look good together,” mark finished his ramble about how he was so happy that his two best friends are dating but none of the words he spat made sense to the other two as they were spacing out beacause of how fast the whole thing has happened.
they really tried to clear up the misunderstanding but mark cut them off with his beaming smile and sparkling eyes, and they didn't have the heart to destroy such joy evident on their best friend's face. pretending to date your best friend's best friend doesn't sound so bad, right? or does it?
“come on, mark. jeno’s probably waiting for us on his unit,” donghyuck slightly pushed mark towards the door when he realized they will hang out at jeno's and used it as an excuse to escape this situation. he doesn't want to talk about his relationship with roommate anymore and he's sure bitna too.
mark wasn't suspicious of the two at all as he walked towards bitna to ruffle her hair while giggling, “you have so much to tell me, huh? let's catch up later!”
when mark noticed donghyuck was just about to close the door and leave bitna without a word, he nudged him on the shoulder and teased him, “you’re all talk about being romantic but won’t even look her in the eye before leaving?”
donghyuck let out a huff and turned his heels to go towards bitna who is now lying on the couch scrolling through her phone. he shut his eyes tight before he leaned his face close to hers and whispered her a question he didn't believe he would ever ask her.
“can i kiss you?”
bitna stopped scrolling and looked up to meet donghyuck's eyes. she could tell he was dead serious and if she wanted mark not to question them again, she should be too. she nodded to grant donghyuck's permission, making her roommate not let waste any time and press a gentle kiss on her forehead.
“i’ll be back at 5pm, baby. don’t miss me too much, okay?” donghyuck's tone and smile are so sweet even himself will think he's genuine except he's far from being one. he also made sure his voice was loud enough to let mark hear it.
bitna reached for his hair and gently fixed the strands as she looked at his eyes, “i don’t think i can promise that.”
donghyuck didn't expect her reply at all since he thought she would bite back with “no, don't miss me too much.” damn, he wishes his flustered face isn't so obvious for anyone to see. with a smile and a gentle pat on his cheek, bitna bid him goodbye and the next thing he knew was he's now infront of jeno's unit. what the fuck is happening to you? he asked himself as he shook his head to clear his thoughts.
