It's not okay

“I want deer with that black powder thing! The spicy one,” Jimin skirted around in the water, requesting his wishes.

“You mean black pepper,” Yoongi sufficed, his head already ringing with plans of how to catch a deer in order to satisfy his injured boyfriend’s whims.

“I want cooked fish and eggs!” Jimin would say the very next day, a stray strand of grass twisted in his chubby, healing fingers.

“Today I want rabbit meat. For dinner. And watch stars with you,” the merman shamelessly spoke. He was getting bolder with his requests since he was recuperating in the well and couldn’t move freely.

“You think I can now find Big Dipper alone?” Jimin went on, not particularly interested in hearing Yoongi’s answer. “I have time... lot of time now and when Yoongi sleep I try find stars. The stars you teach me.”

“Is that so?”

“Yes!” The merman bobbed his head enthusiastically, a big smile on his lips. “I can show? I show you tonight, a-and if I find the good star Yoongi must give me something.”

Yoongi snorted, finding the situation hilarious although the sentence piqued his interest all the same. The boldness that his little candyfins possessed these past few days was endlessly intriguing.

“And what it is that you want, candyfins?”

Blush, like tiny specks of dust, slowly settled onto Jimin’s cheeks. The coy smile, however, ruined the gorgeous innocent vibe the merman was sporting. “It’s secret. But you have to promise!”

Huffing, the sailor ruffled Jimin’s hair. “Alright. If it’s within my abilities then I see no problem.”

That night Yoongi was pleasantly surprised to see Jimin effortlessly pointing out the Big Dipper and a few other constellations that he taught him. It was evident Jimin did his homework. There was excitement in Jimin’s body language, and Yoongi couldn’t help but feel proud.

“Well, let’s hear that secret then,” Yoongi prompted.

Jimin, whose injuries have healed up almost completely, happily placed his elbows on the edge. His serious tone didn’t match his body language. “I want you go and work on boat. You are take care of me so much.. I’s feel bad b-because you cannot build boat in past days.”

The blond sailor was taken-aback, not expecting Jimin’s request to be of this nature at all. Though he quickly regained his neutral expression. “Are you sure you’ll be okay? I don’t mind staying around a few more days.”

To tell the truth, Yoongi wasn’t sure he was ready emotionally to go back to that clearing and pick up the tools he pried out from Jimin’s blistered hands. But Jimin shook his head, the smile bright on his lips and eyes twinkling with determination. “I’m sure. I make you stay long now. I also feel very good, there is only few wounds left… and it not hurt bad.”

Yoongi sighed resigned, knowing from Jimin’s tone that there was no use in arguing. “Alright, candyfins. I’ll resume building tomorrow.”

And in the blink of an eye, a month has passed. Yoongi has been tirelessly working on the ship and Jimin was there to cheer him on all the way. They have pulled all-nighters, got soaked by sudden downpours at least twice, took them four painful tries to get the recipe for tar right and plucked the banana trees free of their leaves leaving them looking hilariously naked and miserable.
