Y/N POV

Classes had finally finished, and I was beat. I don't even know why they were so draining, I was sitting still for almost all the day. Looking through my homework I remember I have a meeting to attend in Vale, well more one I scheduled. Getting up from the desk I quickly shove on my robes and start heading for the window.

"Where are you going?" Carroll asks.

"I've got some business in town." I reply.

"I don't think this is going to work." He replied before jumping into bed.

"He's a gangster, not a supervillain, gangsters like money." I reply looking outside.

Throwing down the rope I climb down and take the same route, all the while looking at my scroll to see if he had responded. He had stayed silent on the matter, his last message being a simple 'Ok' from hours ago. Armed with a silenced 9mm pistol incase he tried anything funny I head to the bank with a check. 500k lien in cash, all from R/N's bank account, or well, I guess mine. Walking there cash in a briefcase.

12 minutes behind schedule

Sitting in a dark abandoned factory with a briefcase I'm sitting on a fallen pillar of concrete. Looking around I see nobody, nothing there, no cameras, no lights, and most importantly no Roman. I don't hear anything other than the wind going through the long dead hallways, I can't feel anything other than the cold air and the chilly concrete I'm sitting on. I was about to get up and leave before I see Neo and Roman walking up to me.

"You're late." I say annoyed.

"You didn't make this place easy to find." He replies equally as annoyed.

"Do you suggest we do this in an easy to find place, like, out in the open?" I ask.

"No, what do you want to talk about kid, I'm on a tight schedule." He says.

"Team RWBY, Team JNPR, Team CNFR, you know them?" I ask.

"Yes, I do." He replies.

"No killing them," I say blunt as possible.

"Now now now, I don't do these types of requests for free," Roman replies almost shocked.

"Well, I know you don't and that's why I brought this." I reply gesturing to the briefcase.

Opening it up under the cover of darkness I pull the pistol out of it and shove it into my pocket, I walk over and show them the money.

"That's 500k for a simple task, no killing." I say flashing a light to the contents.

The two were somewhat shocked, 500k was not a little bit of money for anybody, crime lord or not.

"I don't care if they come back bruised and beaten, hell cut off their arm, but I want them to come back alive do you understand." I reply trying to sound intimidating as possible.

"So what you're saying is I can beat them to hell and back, but as long as they get back alive, we're cool." He replies perplexed.

"No capturing either, I don't want to see them captured and sold off, I want them coming back to Beacon after every battle." I say.

"Ah-huh, and you're offering this cash up front, what if I don't hold up my end?" Roman asks curious.

"I'm trusting that you won't, you're smart enough to know why you shouldn't, the cash is a bonus." I reply gesturing to my scroll.

"good point," He replies looking at the money.

"Roman, I'm going to level with you, the only reason I haven't blown the lid on this entire thing is because I like you, and I don't think you're the boogeyman people make you out to be. What I see is a guy who hasn't had a chance at any other life than crime, and I want to give you one. That money is more than enough to make it out of here to Vacuo and start over," I say before looking to Neo, "I see the same thing in you, you never had any other chances did you, I'm telling you both, get out before it kills you."

"Insightful, nice speech, I bet you practiced that every night before you go to sleep, I-I'm happy with my life." Roman says shakily up at the end.

"Happy or not, I leave you with this advice, it's an old saying we had back where I grew up. Pigs get fat, but hogs get slaughtered." I reply before walking away from the ordeal.

*Roman POV*

Perhaps it's because I'm tired and it's late at night, but the kid's words are getting to me. It's like he's analyzed my entire past just by looking me in the eye, it's scary, but also comforting. It's almost as if he knows what I've been through, why I do what I do, and I truly think he wants the best for me, but why, what does he gain from me quitting crime? He's an enigma, he's somebody that shouldn't exist, nobody's this good hearted exists right?

"Yeah yeah, that's right kid, have a good night." I reply.

Suddenly I think of one more thing.

"Say, kid, I want to add one more part to the deal." I say.

*Y/N POV*

"That is?" I reply

"I want you to help me out on occasion." He replies.

"How often, is 'on occasion'" I ask.

"Oh, not often, maybe do a street race for me here and there, that's about it." He replies.

I know he's not telling the full extent as to what, I know I may have to get my hands dirty, but this is to protect my friends, and I can keep an eye on him while doing it.

"Okay, deal is a deal." I reply walking away from the building.

The whole walk back to beacon were plans I were drafting up in my head to 'serve without serving' per say. I know that I'd probably getting my fair share of bad karma, and I knew this wasn't probably the best decision, but it was little late for take backs.
