Reena didn't talk to anyone for rest of the day. She went to her room and closed the door. Arvind tried to calm her feelings, but decided it was best to leave her alone. There was nothing anyone could do, as it was a communication issue. Reena and Arvind thought they got a positive response from Arohi and Arohi didn't realize the gravity of the issue and agreed to something that involved two families and could hurt many people, if it goes either way. Arohi too, didn't talk to anyone and spent rest of the day in her room thinking about her future.
Arvind didn't realize the issue would cause so much grief to everyone in the family. He did like all the things he heard about Yudhi and was excited to meet and know him better. It kind of made sense to him, as a parent, to strive for things he thought would be better for his kids, but he didn't want to push them into it. As parents, he wanted to give them choices and knowledge, to make their own decisions and take responsibility for it.
Next day, he knocked on Arohi's door. Arohi opened the door and hugged him and started crying. He felt like she was still a 6 year old and started consoling her. He explained to her that nothing would happen without her approval and her mom was upset because she thought she had her approval and explained the whole story again to her. She said, she was sorry for not paying attention, while the issue was being discussed at the restaurant. He promised her that she would always have the final say no matter what, he or Reena, thought about any issue regarding her future, including her marriage.
Arohi felt confidant after getting assurance from Arvind. She went to Reena, who was still mad about the whole thing and didn't want to step out of her room.
"I am sorry mom. I should have paid more attention while you were talking at the restaurant. Please forgive me. I know how much you like Yudhi and I know you want the best for me, but I am really not interested in him", she pleaded with her mom.
Reena hugged her daughter and both started crying. Reena finally calmed down and consoled Arohi. "Arohi, why do you think I would do anything against your wishes ? I love you million times more than Yudhi or anyone, so never think or say anything like that. I went ahead and booked my tickets, only after your approval. I can cancel them anytime."
Meanwhile Arvind stepped into the room.
"Arohi, I already told you that nothing would happen without your approval, but you should also consider something we want for you and not reject it, without even giving it any consideration. I want you to think about it and may be talk to Yudhi and get to know him better. I want your mom to still go to India and get their feeling on this issue without promising anything to anyone. She can introduce you to Yudhi over phone and when he comes over here, you would have lot of chances to spend some time with him and then decide about your choice. I am actually very excited to meet him and want us all to give this alliance a chance before rejecting it. Let me know your opinion on this and then mom can decide to go to India or not."
Even though Arohi was sure about her decision, she felt it was in the best interest of the family for her to go along with her parents for now and then reject it later. She was sure, once Yudhi was with them, they would start seeing all the flaws in him and lose their rosy opinion about him. Then it would be very easy for her to reject the whole thing.
"Ok mom, I am happy to go along with Dad's suggestion, but please don't promise Yudhi or anyone, without taking me into confidence."
Reena was happy , though it was a small victory, she was sure Arohi will come around, once she starts talking and spending some time with Yudhi. So she started planning her trip again.
Once she landed in India, she spent some time with Yudhi alone and asked him about Mallika. "No auntie, I am not into love or anything like that. I want to concentrate on my career and I have a few goals in mind before thinking about marriage."
"Sure Yudhi, I think it is a good idea. I hear the same from Arohi all the time." She said to him while feeling grateful to Arohi, for not bringing up the marriage proposal, as she would have felt bad if he rejected it and decided not to stay with them.
Just then her phone started ringing and she picked it up and said "hello Arohi, how are you ? Good ! Wait, I want you talk to Yudhi" and she handed him the phone.
Yudhi didn't say anything to her after his conversation with Arohi and she didn't ask. Later Arohi too didn't say anything to her, though she wanted to know the details, she decided to remain quiet for now and get it out of them later. She returned back to US the same day.
Three months later , she was ready to receive Yudhi at the airport.
Finally Yudhi, made it to them and hugged her. She introduced him to Arvind, who gave him a warm hug and welcomed him to their home. He was excited to meet Abhi, who was watching him closely and extended her hand for a shy handshake. Yudhi didn't know whether to hug her or shake her hand, as she was his sister's age, neither a full adult nor a young teen. Finally, he settled for a handshake.
"Are you looking for anyone?" Reena , noticed Yudhi's eyes scanning the crowds and she thought she knew who he was searching for, but asked him anyway.
"No Auntie, I came with someone on the flight and am searching for her .. err..im." Yudhi blurted out, hoping he corrected himself on time.
Reena was disappointed. She thought he was going to ask about Arohi, but she told him anyway. "Sorry Arohi couldn't make it as she is not here yet. She coming from Texas this evening, you can meet her then."
Yudhi, didn't seem to mind, as he was still looking for the mystery girl. This was his only chance to see her again. But he couldn't find her anywhere, so he just followed the family to the car park to start a new chapter in his life.
