Family Ties

Liz POV

We arrived at Kyle's house and I walked hand in hand with Dean to the door. I knew he was tense about this but I knew if I had came here by myself he would be hurt. I knocked on the door and it opened and Kyle was shirtless. That caught me off guard.

"No shirt I see" I said

"Yep" he eyed Dean suspiciously

"Look guys I'm here for Diana. We will play nice okay"

"Ok" they both said

We walked inside and saw Diana playing. She looked up at me and smiled, running over to me and giving me a hug. She was so sweet.

"Hi Lizard" she said as she hugged me

"Hi Dinosaur" I hugged her back

She laughed. We had names for each other.

"Look at you, you've gotten so much bigger" I sat down on the floor next to her and taking off my coat, setting it on the couch

"Kangaroo( Kyle) says that he wants me to stay little and that boys are bad" she said

I laughed and looked at Kyle to see him looking at me. Then my eyes flickered to Dean.

"Yeah but only some of them are bad when you get older you'll meet a handsome Prince Charming that would make you and only you feel special, just like Cinderella." I said smiling at her

"Really that's cool"

"But no boys for now. Not until your 50." Kyle said sitting on the couch looking at Diana

I laughed. "Well a birdie told me that it was your 7th birthday today"

"Yes" she smiled

"I got you something. I've wanted to give it to you for a while but I think you are responsible and strong enough to have it." I pulled my grandmothers necklace from around my neck and put it around her neck.

Diana always loved the necklace and I needed to let it go.

"Thank you Lizard it's so pretty" she hugged me tightly

"I will tell you the story behind it later. But for now take care of it for me. Can you do that for me Dinosaur ?"

"Yes Lizard, I will take care of it" she pulled away from the hug

"Good"

"I'm going to look at it in the mirror" She said running to the bathroom passing all other mirrors

Soon I felt a tissue put in my hand. It was Dean. I felt my eyes and realized I was crying. I stood up and wiped my tears.

"Why would you give it to her Liz.? You know that necklace means everything to you." Kyle said

"I had to Kyle. Plus I knew that my grandmother would have wanted me to give it to her."

"Bullshit Liz" Kyle stood up and walked out the room

I felt the tears come again and this time I was pulled into a hug. I wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him closer to me.

"Who are you?" Diana came back into the room realizing that Dean was here.

I pulled away from him and looked at her.

"Diana this is my friend Dean"

"But I thought you and Kangaroo love each other." She said with tears clouding her eyes

"We do love each other still Diana. Just not like before but that love is still there." I said

"No. Your supposed to be here with me and Kyle. Not him." she said running away to her room and slamming it closed

I sighed and went to go look for Kyle.
He sat in the kitchen alone.

"Kyle-"

"I'm sorry I cheated on you, Liz. It may seem like I don't realize that it was the biggest mistake of my life but trust me I do. The closer you and Diana get to each other, the closer I want to be with you Liz. Ever since Diana and I parents died, you were the only woman that Diana's ever opened up to and I love that. I just wished I was there to stop it." He said shaking his head

"Kyle, stop it, if you were there , Diana would be all alone and she wouldn't have anyone. You are her big brother. The guy that protects her from all harm. This is what your parents would have wanted. Don't ever doubt why your here now because you are here for that now 7 year old girl. Be there for her. Tell her about her amazing parents. Comfort her when she cries." I said

Kyle came closer to me and was about to lean in to kiss me but I put my hand on his cheek. Knowing that he couldn't, he hugged me and rested his head on my shoulder.

"I hope he makes you really happy" Kyle said talking about Dean

"He does" I said

"Good" he said pulling away from me and kissing be on the forehead.

"Let's go see, Diana" I said walking out with him behind me

We walked to Diana's room to see her and Dean laughing together. We walked inside and Diana ran to hug me.

"I'm sorry I yelled. Im not angry anymore" she said

"You aren't?" I said

"No. Right Deer?" We both looked at Dean. And he looked like a deer caught in headlights.

Dean POV

After Diana ran to her room and Liz looked for Kyle, I went to talk to Diana. I knocked on the door and she said "go away" thinking it was Kyle or Liz.

"Diana can I talk to you?" I asked

"No"

"I have cookies" I said

The door opened and she looked at me with tears streaming down her eyes. I took it as my chance to come inside.

"You lied" she said

"I'm sorry I did" I said

She nodded. I reached my hand out for her to come closer and she grabbed it. We sat on the floor.

"Can I tell you something?" I asked

"Ok" she said

"Remember when Liz was telling you about a Prince Charming?"

"Yep"

"Well it's kind of the same thing for guys. Instead of me wanting a Prince Charming. I want a Cinderella. A girl that would make me feel special and only me."

"Really?"

"Yeah and do you know who that girl is?" i asked her

"Lizard?" She said

"Your so smart Diana. Your right it is Liz. What I feel for her is beyond compare what I feel about ice cream." I said

She gasped and I gasped at the same time.

" You like Lizard more than ice cream"

"I know right. It's crazy but I do. She makes me happy and smile and I love being around her. I think she might be my Cinderella." I said looking at her

She smiled and then frowned." What about me and Kangaroo? Is she going to forget about us?"

"Never. Do you know how much you talks about you guys? She loves you so much that's why she gave you that necklace that you love so much, Diana." I said

She smiled and hugged me.
"I hope Lizard finds out that your her Prince Charming ,too Deer."

"Deer?" I said laughing

"Yes that's your animal name. Now we are all connected like a family and nothing can hurt us" she said

I smiled and hugged her back. "I wouldn't want to be called any other name, Dinosaur"

She laughed and pulled away. Then the door opened.
