Late nights and anime dates

First interactions

after a couple hours of driving, he was 5 minutes away from karl. they hadn't known eachother for too long, only a few months. however, it was long enough for them to form a connection. they were insanely close and were meeting for the first time in person, finally.

after months of joking about meeting up and months of jokes about irl weddings, sapnap was taking the last few turns towards karl's house.

it's safe to say the two were nervous, both shaking and fidgeting while waiting to see the other. both imagining all the ways their first interaction could go wrong, or go right.

sapnap sat in his car, humming to the music playing on his stereo. he follows the directions the phone screams at him and takes a left down a new street. the phone yells at sapnap telling him that he had arrived at his destination. sapnap parks the car and stares at the house before him. never before has he been so nervous to knock on a door.

he knocks on the door reluctantly, heart beating faster than he could count. the door flies open and suddenly there's somebody in his arms. sapnap awkwardly pats him on back and smiles into the embrace.

"you're so short nick!" karl chuckles. sapnap exits the hug and stares up into karl's eyes, screaming internally at the gorgeous look karl gave him.

sapnap walked into karl's house, taking in the environment. sapnap admired the artwork on the white walls, and the shoe rack overflowing with shoes.

"you have a lot of shoes karl" sapnap giggles as he walks through the corridor, taking a right into the living room.

"no i don't!" karl protests. he leads sapnap around the house, showing him the streaming room and sapnaps room for the next week and a bit. sapnap unpacks his stuff and takes a seat in the living room alongside karl.

"should we order food?" karl says after a few moments of silence. they were both so caught up in saying the wrong thing they didn't end up speaking at all.

"yeah i'm hungry" sapnap sits up and shuffles closer to karl on the sofa. karl brings up his phone and they choose a place to get food. they decide to put on a show, karl showing sapnap one of his favourite shows.

sapnap sits on his phone scrolling through twitter as the show plays in the background. sapnap didn't seem as interested in the show as karl had hoped, so he decided to try and talk to him instead.

"you don't like the show?" karl asks awkwardly. he shuffles closer to sapnap, only a few inches sat between each others thighs. "oh sorry i guess i'm just a bit out of it. a little hard to focus if you feel me."

sapnap sits up and faces karl fully, he realised he may of come across as rude so he decided to put his full attention on the other. karl smiles at the simple action.

"that's okay! food should be here soon, will that make you feel better?" karl places a hand on sapnaps shoulder, rubbing it affectionately. "i hope so"

sapnap smiles at the simple touch. although sapnap had dream back at home, he was very touch starved. the simple touch from karl sent his mind spinning and his stomach full of butterflies.

karl noticed sapnaps slight blush and giggled in response. it was a new side of sapnap for karl, he was nervous. karl almost felt in control, he made somebody feel this nervous.

karl's phone vibrates, he takes his hand off sapnap to take the phone out of his pocket. "oh! foods here! stay here i'll grab it."

karl walks back into the living room with a bag of food. he places the food boxes on the coffee table and takes a seat next to sapnap.

sapnap takes the hot food into his hands and leans back into the sofas cushion. he decided to actually pay attention to the show, he wanted to show karl he cared.

sapnap has never been great at showing his affections. he loves all his friends so much, but he's kind of a shy person. over the internet it's a bit different though, he can get away with acting confident. but with karl sat right beside him, it was stressful. all he wanted to do was jump up into karl's arms. he wants to snuggle up to him and never leave. but his body told him no.
so instead he sat next to karl, awkwardly staring at him every few seconds and blushing when karl would look back.

sapnap picks up the empty boxes of food and places them in a bag, bringing them into the kitchen and throwing them out. he walks back into the living room and takes a seat next to karl again, closer than before.

sapnap struggles to pay attention to the show and instead lets his eyes wonder around the living room, exploring each shelf from afar. sapnap smiles at the nerdy memorabilia and mass amounts of mangas taking up space on a bookshelf.

sapnap felt his eyes begin to feel heavy, his body jerking back up when he felt himself fall closer to sleep. sapnap turns to karl and smiles softly. his heart warms at the sight, karl's messy hair falling perfectly across his forehead and his hands laced together in his lap as he watches the show contently.

sapnap hates to leave karl so soon; but after a full day of driving he was definitely ready for bed. he sat up slightly and stretched his body like a cat. "it's bed time for me karl"

"oh" karl turns to sapnap and gives him a pensive look. "okay well goodnight. um, sleep well?"

"goodnight karl." sapnap pats karl on the back awkwardly as he stands up to leave. sapnap walks slowly towards his room and cringes at the last interaction between him and karl. he puts on more comfortable sleep wear and gets into bed, scrolling through twitter and instagram for an hour or so before dozing off.

a/n: this will be a short story with maybe 2 or 3 chapters based on karl and sapnaps meet up last week, these two are my comfort ship/friendship and i will be writing a lot of stories about them. if you are reading this and haven't checked out my other story called 45 minute drive i recommend you do, i have worked very hard on that story and i am super proud of it. thank you for reading and i hope you have an amazing day! i love you; stay safe and drink some water.
