Graduation day was a blur of tears, colours, certificates; shouts of both happiness and sadness filled the air, teachers crying, students saying their final goodbyes. It felt so, so emotional.

High school was a shitfuck. You could say that. However, if they improved the system, you daresay you might've had fun here. But your time in school was up, and now you were free to wander out into the world, with new things to explore.

A new chapter of the book, in some respects.

When all was said and done, everyone mingled, talking, sobbing, laughing. You found yourself strolling over to Sosuke, who was looking a bit more than just upset.

"Hey," you murmured, "you good?"

"No," he replied, hiding his face in the arm of his blazer. "Funny... I always hated school, but now it's done, I can't stop crying."

You allowed yourself to smile, "Ironic." Moving a hand, you gently rubbed his shoulder. "Where did you say you were going again?"

"Osaka," Sosuke answered, finally facing you properly. "I don't really want to, honestly, but it's all my family can afford at the moment. I'll just have to find a crappy job, scrape up some cash, then go where I wanna go."

"Fancy coming to England?" you asked slyly, which caused him to let out a half laugh, half sob.

"Perhaps," he replied. "Himari's really going to miss you, you know?"

"That reminds me," you quickly reached into your pocket, and sorted through a couple of papers; they were slightly crumpled, but readable. "These are for you."

Sosuke chuckled a bit. "What are these? More letters with the power to make you cry?"

"That's certainly one purpose of them," you retorted sarcastically, "but no. They're... to say goodbye. Open them when you get home, ok?"

Sosuke's eyes softened, and a crooked smile took hold of his mouth. "Ok," he mumbled, shakily taking them from your hands. "You'll keep in contact with me, right?"

"Absolutely," you responded without hesitation; then you paused.

For a moment, you both simply stood there, quietly not wanting this occasion to happen. Yet Sosuke reluctantly handled the hard part, stepping forwards, and wrapping his arms around your waist, hugging you tightly. You reciprocated the gesture, squeezing your eyes shut, attempting to stop the incoming waterworks.

"I'm gonna miss you," he stammered. "Take care of yourself, ok?"

"Same to you," you mumbled, hands now quivering against his back. "Don't get arrested or anything fucked up. Please."

Sosuke nodded, held you for a second longer, before letting go, and backing away, a pained smile drawn on his lips. "Bye," he called softly, waving his hand, which still contained your letters.

Your stomach clenched, and you felt like screaming, as you watched him start to disappear into the crowd of people. So, before he did, you raised your own hand, and replied; "See you."

When he disappeared, your entire frame seemed weak, as you realised that might've been the last time you saw him.

Well. Everything he needed to know was in your letter.

Swallowing the lump in your throat, you turned away, and scanned the masses for Tooru's familiar brown locks of hair. You at last found them, in the centre of a large number of people; clearly, everyone was gutted that they'd never see his pretty face again.

Your eyes flickered from left to right, trying to figure out what would be the best way to reach him, when Tooru suddenly spotted you, and hastily excused himself from the group, then walked over to you.

"You were giving me your (Y/n) stare," he stated, in response to your baffled look at how he'd noticed you. "It means, 'come over here or I'll stuff a bag of jellybeans up your ass'."

"Accurate," you admitted, with a slight shrug, before pulling your letter to him out of your pocket. "This is for you," you mumbled bashfully, "I am flying before you, but I don't want you to come to the airport."

Tooru's face dropped, "What? Why?!"

"Because that'll be too harsh on the both of us," you answered. "Just... just read this, will you?" you pushed it against his chest, a little more than aggravated.

He was silent for a moment, before murmuring, "So... is this goodbye, then?"

You closed your eyes, trying to compose yourself. "I... guess so," you whispered.

"Ok," Tooru breathed, and you were so surprised by his soft tone, that you had to look up; and came face to face with him crying. It was such a shock, that tears spilled down onto your own cheeks, as you watched him try to contain his hiccups.

"You're one of a kind, Oikawa Tooru," you stuttered, holding onto his jumper, as if it would grant you some type of support. "And who gives a fuck if you're not talented? You're dedicated, and passionate, and hardworking, so fuck anyone who says you're not. Don't you ever fucking forget that. Please," you added quietly.

"And you," Tooru mumbled, "are perfect."

You were taken aback by how close his voice was, but when you looked up again, you were met with his lips on yours, which instantly silenced you.

(Your only concern was that this was in front of... everyone.)

A chorus of screeches erupted from the graduates around you, as they observed the incident; Tooru paid it no mind, cupping your face, and pulling you close, so close there didn't seem to be a centimetre of distance between you anymore.

This kiss wasn't like anyone you'd felt before. It was fierce, burning like a furnace, with a passion you hadn't realised he felt. But it was also to say, "Goodbye, I love you."

That hurt. That hurt a lot.

But... let it be. The show goes on, you supposed.

Once he finally let go, Tooru gave you one last short moment, staring right into your eyes, and breathlessly whispering three final words; "See you, darling."

Then all of a sudden, he pushed you, in the direction of the school gates, which caused you to stumble. You whipped around to him, to give him a shove back, when you registered the hundreds of curious, some seething, teenagers who'd witnessed everything.

And fuck all, you ran like the wind.

A stampede seemed to follow you, as you rushed out of Aoba Johsai, your time as a student officially ending with a bang, with about 200 angry fans chasing you out of the building.

Yet for a short moment, you looked over your shoulder, and saw Tooru, your wonderful Tooru, making a peace sign with one hand, and a smile on his lips, despite the tears falling from his eyes. He didn't try to communicate anything else.

But the gesture was enough to send a bittersweet grin onto your face, and gave you enough energy to run through the streets of Miyagi; in that second, you felt like you had enough life to sprint all the way to Scotland.

And so, your very first romance ended, as did your high school career.

Although you felt like falling to the ground and crying your eyes out, wishing this day had never come, you kept your smile stuck on your face.

Because if Tooru could smile, then so could you.
