“You’re joking,” Sosuke’s voice was crackly over the phone, but it didn’t disguise the utter shock in his tone. “I mean, I’m glad you’re seeing your dad after so long, but really?! That means you have to see Oikawa too! How are you gonna handle that?”
“Like I always handle my problems,” you answered, “running away from them.”
Sosuke audibly face palmed. “So… your solution is to avoid him at every opportunity you can, even though he lives in the same building as your father, and is friends with him, not to mention he’ll probably want to see you.”
“I doubt he’ll want to see me,” you disagreed, while filling in the flight details on your computer, to gain your ticket. “He’s way too occupied with volleyball. Besides, there’s also a business thing going on there, it’s not only for enjoyment. Apparently Miss Howard wants to negotiate a deal with a publishing company there to get her books translated into Spanish. So it’s not all fun and games.”
“Who do you think you’re kidding?! You were like, one of the closest people to him in high school! As far as I know, he’s even still in contact with Iwaizumi! Face it like a grown up!” your friend reprimanded.
“You’re way off base,” you snorted in amusement at his claims. “I’m there to help with the dealing, then I’ll go spend some time with Dad. It’s not complicated. The least that’ll happen is that we’ll end up saying a quick hello to each other.”
“Don’t be proud, you know you want to see him,” Sosuke teased.
“God, don’t tell me you genuinely think we’re going to fall for each other again?” you groaned, pinching the bridge of your nose.
“England has done something to you, your sarcasm and no-nonsense attitude has skyrocketed,” he commented randomly. “And also, yes. I do think you two will end up together.”
“Look,” you sighed, “even if we did, we live in two different countries, and have two totally different jobs. It wouldn’t work.”
“See how you feel,” Sosuke remarked slyly, before hanging up abruptly.
“Why does everyone do that to me?” you grumbled, feeling an incoming headache much to your chagrin. “Bloody hell, I need some vodka.”

You were grumpy the entire flight to Argentina, sitting grumpily in your airplane seat, next Ben, who was buzzing with excitement. You resorted to reading the newspaper, which consisted mostly of bad reports, which made you even more aggravated, if that was possible.
Of course, you were overjoyed to see be able to see your father, but the prospect of bumping into Oikawa plagued your mind like an annoying fly that wouldn’t fuck off.
