Shawn and Halle sipped their cold drinks as they took their time walking the streets of Rodeo drive. Despite taking her medication before she left the house, the girl was almost giddy because they were headed to pick out her emotional support animal. She didn't think she needed one, but if this was an excuse to bring a pet into the house she was all for it. She had never had one before.
"You excited?" Shawn asked, ignoring the many stares that were sent their way.
"Yeah! I wonder what I'll get. Maybe a cute kitten...or a lizard." She chuckled.
"A lizard?" He scrunched his face up and slightly pulled Halle to his side as a group of people walked on the sidewalk nearly bumping into her.
"Yeah, it could be anything right?" She asked.
Shawn shrugged and took another sip from his lemonade. "I'm really not sure how all of this works to be honest. I know the animal has to be registered as an emotional support after you get it and that's about it."
"Mm, you think they'll let me take a monkey on a plane?"
He shook his head. "Definitely not getting a monkey."
"Where you on your way to Jay?" A random photographer asked, shoving a camera into Halle's face.
Halle frowned at him in disgust. "Get that camera out of my face!"
This girl literally has no filter, and she most definitely wasn't one for beating around the bush, Shawn thought as he ignored the freelance photographer, sipping his drink casually.
"Jay where's the rest of the family?" The man asked.
"Hold this," Halle handed Shawn her drink.
He was curious as to what she was about to do, but when she broke out into song, he couldn't help but laugh.

She sang loudly until the man grew bored with her impromptu performance and went about his day.
"I should've charged him," Halle said as Shawn held the pet store doors open for her.
"Ugh!" Both of them pinched their noses at the putrid smell of the place.
A round faced young woman with a dimpled smile, wispy bang, and a low ponytail approached them. "Good afternoon! Welcome to 'All Things Pets' where you can get everything your pet needs under one woof with a little more bark for your bucks! Great prices, no begging!"
The woman was a living, breathing billboard. Halle and Shawn exchanged looks with their hands still over their noses.
"Oh I see you've noticed our good ole farm smell. That's because we house a lot of animals here fur, fin, feather, you make it. So what were you looking for today?"
Halle surveyed the store, "I don't know exactly."
The woman smiled, "that's alright, follow me while I help you find your new best friend."
