When Regulus and Sirius were little, they manage to sneak into their parents' bedroom and steal their mother's black nail polish. It isn't exactly pretty, but Sirius carefully paints his brother's nails, proud that he doesn't get too much paint on his skin, laughing when they matched. Walburga eventually finds them and steals her polish back, scolding the children and sending them to their rooms because boys don't wear nail polish. During Regulus' first year, Sirius is about to sit with the other Gryffindors on the train when he pushes a small object into his brother's hand with a quiet smile. It always looked better on you. Regulus fiddles with the bottle of black polish in his pocket the whole ride to Hogwarts, and that night, under the green and silver covers in his new bedroom, he paints his nails again, a little touch of confidence from his big brother.
I have no clue why I thought of this, might of heard it before, but I just started writing 😂
