"He refuses to tell me how he knew that dog was there." I hear Mrs.Closs whisper shout to my mom the next morning. I creep down the hallway and crouch down below the stairs. I peek the side of my face out and observe/listen as my mom and Mrs.Closs talk.
"Nothing? You can't get anything out of him?" My mom asks.
"Nothing."
"Maybe if we can get Saroya to talk to him a bit it might loosen him up. Get him to talk to her about it." Mom says as she hands Mrs.Closs a small tea cup of coffee.
"Maybe. That girl does have quite an impact on Ky. He tells her almost everything and i just know that there is something going on between them. Like they're hiding some huge secret."
"Yes, yes. I agree. Always tension of some sort in the air."
"We both know they'll be together eventually. Maybe something related happened."
"Maybe... Saroya has never struck me as a boy-liking girl. But with someone like Ky around. Such an impact on her could do something."
"Mhhmm." Mrs.Closs mumbles. She looks around and stands up.
"Well i must be on my way. Ky was asleep when i left but he may be awake now. I don't think he slept well either. His eyes were red. As if he was crying."
"Really? I'll bet it was something with guilt or whatever. Okay Maria. Would you like to meet for lunch today at, Fran's? They have great coffee and soups or sandwiches."
"Yes, that'd be great! I will call later on to see about Ky and Saroya."
"Okay." My mom replies. They hug for a minute or so then, Ky's mom picks up her purse and leaves our apartment.
Mom cleans up the coffee pot and cups. While the water is running i try to sneak my way back to my room. That's when the water stops and i see mom turn around, hand on her hip.
"Saroya? Do we need to have to have a little talk about eavesdropping?"
"Umm..." i reply. I shrug and brace myself for the oncoming lecture.
