"I'm home mom" I call from the front door. I hang my coat up on the hangers behind the door. Walking down the hall, i call for mom again. "Mom?".

Then as if out of thin air, Ky jumps out from the kitchen doors. Grabbing me in a headlock, he takes his fist and rubs it back and forth on my skull. Taking my elbow, i slam it back into his ribcage. Releasing he stumbles backwards and laughs. A joyous laugh that seems almost contagious.

"You suck man" i say, smiling like a goof ball.

"So I've heard. Where'd you learn that move?" He asks.

" I'm smart. I figured it out myself, something you wouldn't be able to manage!" I smile and laugh. He comes up behind me and wraps his arms around my shoulders.

"Your a funny kid" he smirks.

" Hey, hey hey! I'm only a few years younger" I say. Out of the kitchen walks the moms. Mom's face brightens up and she looks to us. Taking a good look, she says

" You two are like brother and sister ya know it?"

"Deffiently" Mrs. Closs responds.

"Well, Maria and me have dinner in the oven. But it'll be a while and we have to run to the store to grab some ingredients. So, can we trust you two alone?" Mom asks, back to her mother mode. Ky speaks up first.

" Yes, i think you can. Speaking I'm the older one, I'll make sure Saroya keeps her act together" he smiles at me in an adorable crooked way. Mrs. Closs or as my mom calls her: Maria, sighs and tells mom that we'll be fine.

After mom has gone through her list of rules and phone numbers to call, her and Mrs. Closs finally walk out the door. Ky looks at me and grabs my arm.

"Come on Saroya! We have to go outside!"

"What?! Why?" I reply full of confusion.

"They'll be gone for hours and i found this "alley" that looks really cool. But i haven't had time to check it out" he responds. His words jumbling together from excitement.

"No.......well. okay fine. But it can't be long" i say. He pulls me along towards the door. We run down the stairs, the entire time with him holding on to my wrist. Not once loosening his grip. We get to the lobby. I shake my arm free and stare at the door, with the cars honking and people crossing beyond it. I wonder how on earth could anything fun be outside those doors.

"Come on!" Ky cries impatiently. Opening the door, he regrabs my hand. Running out the door, the cool October wind hits my face like a cement wall. Ky's face stretches in excitement. Running from the building: my prison i can't help but smile. What an older brother he is.
