I stop. Mom starres at me and asks again,
"Saroya?! Earth to Saroya! What is wrong with you?"
"Mom...i...mom" i stammer. Not sure what to say. Or what to do.
"Yeah?!" She half yells.
"I...nevermind." i decide.
"Right. Now get your lazy backside up and let's get moving, shall we?" She steps in front on the mirror next to me and runs her fingers through my hair.
"Come on. Let's go" her voice and tone changes. It sorta bothered me.
We went to Fran's. Everything played out the same. Ky handing me the paper, him brushing me away and the rest. Until we got up to the part when the moms suggest to go look at the menu. That's when i stop it.
"No!" I quickly recover, "Mom, i want to go look too! You guys can't leave us alone, we'll destroy the place!" I add with a smile.
"Oh, okay then." She looks to Maria and raises an eyebrow.
"Ky.......would you like to come also?" She asks in her cheery voice. In this scene mom reminds me of those preppy high school girls. She has the arched eyebrow and her brown hair straightened down her back. Wearing a pink dress. Even if the moment isn't funny, i smile and let out a giggle of some sort.
Ky takes a moment to decide. He shakes his head; a bit to the left, a bit to the right.
"Sure." He says. We got up and walked off.
Walking through the cafe, everything was silent. No chit-chat between us or anything. Just the sounds of silverware clinking and people eating. We found the menu. It was near the doorway and as we stood there reading, Violet Turns walks into the door with an oldish lady. With graying hair and fine lines.
"Violet!" I exclaim. We ran up and hugged for awhile.
"Saroya! How are you? Oh! Lemonade? I haven't heard anything from you in a long time!" She says in a rush.
"I'll explain everything. Why don't you and your guest come and sit with us? We're on the patio and our table has room left for a few more!" I say. I can't wait to talk to her.
"Grandma?" She asks the lady behind her.
"Sure." The grandma replies.
"Ky!" Violet says.
