(Y/n's POV)

As soon as I walk in the front doors, Pepper grabs my arm and takes me aside.
"Your dad is in a meeting at the moment, you're gonna have to wait for a minute." She states, then frantically pulls me across the room, keeping a smile plastered on her face. I turn over my shoulder, as I have a feeling she's hiding something, but all I see is a man walking outside in a hoodie. Or, was it a boy? Well, they're probably just an intern or something.

"Alright, you can go in and see your father now." Pepper smiles lightly, as if nothing strange just happened. Furrowing my brows I turn around and head to the elevator. I know my dad doesn't actually live in Stark Tower, he lives with the Avengers, but he's moved in temporarily to accommodate me. The original Stark Tower was destroyed, and sold, this one is just where Dad does his private work. I wish he would take me to the Avengers Tower, it would be easier, but he insists on me meeting the Avengers at 'the right time'.

I reach Dad's lab and walk inside, but he's not there yet. Just as I sit down on the medical table, I hear the elevator click again and Dad walks out with a young girl, probably around my age. She's got space buns in her hair, a phone in her hand, and an excited grin on her face. She seems interesting already.
"Hello, Y/n, I am Shuri, King T'Challa's sister." The girl announces, smiling at me, the light of her phone illuminating her dark eyes.

"Um - I'm Y/n." I give a puzzled look unintentionally. To answer my silent question, my dad speaks up.
"Your mark seems to be made of the same material that my arc reactor is. I've recently come to know it as vibranium, and it's an exclusively Wakandan metal, which is why I've enlisted the help of Shuri - the most technically proficient person in Wakanda." My Dad explains calmly, though he looks a bit envious of Shuri's skill. She must really be something, then.

After Shuri runs a few tests on my mark and leaves my back stinging, she confirms that it's made of vibranium, but it's mixed with another unknown material crafted by the Green Goblin which explains why the colours invert whenever I feel intense emotions. And it seems to be happening again now.

"Hey, uh thanks for coming all this way for me, I appreciate it." I thank Shuri and she nods as a polite 'you're welcome', before I turn to my dad. "Could I go on a walk please? I need to clear my head a bit."
"Sure thing, kiddo, just let me know when you're coming home or if you need me to pick you up." He gives me a warm smile. I feel like our relationship has really developed the last few days, maybe spending some time with him was a good idea. I definitely missed having him around.

I quickly get changed and head outside, walking to the nearest bus stop and pulling my phone out of my pocket.

I text Peter, wanting a familiar face to talk to, but not wanting to burden my mum with my problems - or with anything involving my dad.

Me: you home?

Peter: yeah, didn't need to go to the internship today. Why?

Me: can I come over?

Peter: of course, are you ok?

I decide not to answer him, and to just talk in person. I get on the bus and put my earbuds in, resting my head against the window. It starts raining slightly, shit, dad won't let me walk in the rain.

Me: hey, Dad, I'm staying with a friend tonight, I just needed a different scene. Is that ok?

Dad: sure thing, I've got some work to finish up anyway - can't do it with your music blaring all the time lol

Did my dad really just use 'lol' in a message? I roll my eyes and chuckle, putting my phone back in my pocket.

Soon enough I reach my apartment complex. I go up the stairs straight to his floor, hoping my mum doesn't see me. I knock on the door and a brunette woman with a bright smile opens the door. "Hey, you must be Y/n. Peter talks about you all the time!" She greets me enthusiastically, pulling me into a hug.
"Yeah, I am. You must be his Aunt May?" I smile awkwardly at her, as Peter rushes into the room.
"I don't talk about her all the time!" He exclaims, grabbing my hand and pulling me down the hallway. "Sorry, May's a bit enthusiastic and well - when I bring up a girl she always freaks out and then -" he stumbles over his words until I cut him off.
"It's ok, my mum can be a bit like that too." I blush a little, wondering if he actually had talked about me.
