Rebekah rushed around the room pinning up birthday banners everywhere. Sebastian's family were trying to organise the people and get them in the house. Rebekah's phone buzzed in her hand. It was a message from Sebastian's eldest sister Stefanie telling her that they were only 5 minutes away.
"They're five minutes away!!!" She yelled across the room. People began rushing around trying to get a space in the room. Rebekah ran into the kitchen to find Fabian pigging out on crisps.
"Fabian, in the lounge now!!!" She ordered. He dropped the bag on the floor, obviously not expecting to get caught. He hurried past Rebekah, joining the rest of the guests in the lounge. The bag on the floor began leaking crisps and Rebekah hurridly swept them up. A car could be heard turning into the driveway and Rebekah hurried back into the lounge. Car doors slammed outise and the lounge went quiet. Rebekah laughed quietly as she heard Sebastian quizzing his sister about why she had taken him to a sock shop on his birthday. The door opened silently and Sebastian turned into the lounge.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!" Sebastian jumped back in surprise, his eyes wide with terror. Once he realised he wasn't being attacked his face spread into a large grin. Heike rushed up to him and pulled him into a bear hug.
"My baby's 21!" Heike said tearfully as she pulled away.
"Mum don't cry." Sebastian muttered.
"I'm not!" Heike said wiping her eyes. Rebekah laughed and gently pulled Heike aside so other people could get to Sebastian. Rebekah noticed that Fabian, once again, had disappeared. She sighed and went to the kitchen. As she had suspected he had gone back to the crisps he had started. She ripped the bag out of his hand and glared at him playfully.
"Go and say happy birthday to your brother." She told him. Fabian groaned and pushed past her. She laughed and put the bag away in the highest cupboard she could find so Fabian couldn't reach it.
Rebekah went back into the lounge and found Sebastian in the well-manicured clutches of his grandma. Rebekah laughed and decided to go and help him.
"Hi Seb." She greeted him. His grandma finally letting go.
"Hey Reb." He replied, smiling gratefully. "Oma, this is my girlfriend Rebekah." He introduced.
"Oh, you were right, she is gorgeous!" She cooed. Before she could pull Rebekah into a hug, Rebekah excused herself, muttering something about getting more drinks. Sebastian followed on after her.
"Thank you for saving me." He said before kissing Rebekah.
"You're welcome." She smiled. She pulled away and grabbed the bottle of champagne from the kitchen and topped her glass up before offering it around to everyone else.
"Oh, Rebekah come here!" Melanie, Sebastian's other sister, called. Rebekah handed the bottle to Norbet before going over.
"Hi." She greeted.
"Hi, look... this is the girl I was telling you about, the fool stupid enough to date my brother." She said to the man next to her. She grinned at Rebekah as she said the last part.
"He's not that bad." Rebekah argued, laughing.
" He is!" Melanie insisted. "Oh, Silly me, this is Josef my boyfriend." She introduced. Rebekah smiled cheerfully at the tall man next to her. A crash behind them caused Rebekah to spin around. A glass was in shatters in the middle of the floor, the champagne in a pool around it. Rebekah placed her own glass on the table in the corner and grabbed a roll of tissues. She bent down by the glass and began mopping it up.
"I'll do that if you want." Heike offered.
"No, it's fine, thank you." Rebekah said. Once the glass was all gathered up she went to the kitchen and sought out a bin to but the shards in. She eventually found one hidden in a cupboard.
