They quickly arrived to his place; the hardest part was to get through the crowded traffic. After all, it was in the middle of the Downtown, right into the rush hour. Ishael parked his car way more carefully than how he drove it, too worried he would scrape the brand-new paint if he wasn't cautious enough. They got out, entering into the apartment block, taking the elevator to the latest floor, that was entirely his. Leto always loved Ishael's place, and smiled when she took a step inside: the view he had on Dufferdale was the fairest she ever saw. The huge bay window on the entire wall's length in the living room showed nearly the entire city, and the girl loved to watch the night lights from there. Gesh and her sat on the white sofa, the brunette being closer to the window, looking outside with stars in her eyes, while the blonde went to the kitchen.
– What do you wanna drink? He asked, from the other room.
– Champagne, exclaimed Leto.
– And I'm not the dude that'll contradict her, chuckled Gesh.
– Champagne it is then!
Ishael took a bottle and three glasses, poured the beverage in it, and came back with the drinks, giving it to them before sitting between the two.
– So... he started.
– Y'all will be under my orders tomorrow, she shouted, excited, as she got a sip out of her glass.
– What?!
Their stunned face made her laugh wholeheartedly.
– The Skinners' transaction? Questioned the green-haired man.
– Soohun let you the lead on the month's most important mission? How come?
Leto shrugged, leaning into the couch.
– My day has come. If we don't fuck up the whole thing tomorrow, I'm becoming a Lieutenant.
– This is some freaking news, sis!
– Congrats!
She smiled as Ishael hugged her and Gesh patted her shoulder, both paying attention not to overthrow their drinks.
– Thanks, pals.
– Who's in, then? I already bet on Isha and I, though.
They shared a laugh.
– Yeah, together forever, we're ride or die after all, assured Leto. But to be honest, I don't know who else to call for that.
– Soohun didn't give you orders at all? Asked the blonde.
– Nothing other than to bring him the weapons, no matter what.
– Understandable. That's brand-new military stuff, expensively effective. We can't risk it, you should ask him for some of his personal men.
Leto pouted, not that delighted about that idea. Most of them used to look down on her, and for the first time where she would have the lead, she would absolutely not tolerate this.
– I don't stand most of them, huh.
– Last time we got on a bigger mission together, there was that tall, silver-haired guy... What was his name, already?
Gesh frowned, bothered his memory wasn't any better. She couldn't bring herself to remind it either, and shrugged.
– Hylo Koren? questioned Ishael.
– Nah, not him. Too childish for such a work.
– Yeah, you're right. Hm... Siali Tofezza?
– Yep, this silver-haired dude! Well, that one seemed quite fond of you, y'know. He's also a super good fighter.
The blonde eyed him, a bit annoyed his friend would compliment another Lieutenant, but didn't add anything. She frowned, thinking for a bit about the guy he recommended; he would be the most easy one to tolerate in all of her father's men. He was an excellent fighter despite being a transfer, and one of the best shooter in all of Downtown, so if she excluded the stupid nickname he gave her – that was later repeated by the whole gang, to her greatest regret –, he might have been the only one she could work with while expecting such high results.
– Eh, he's okay-ish, I guess, she agreed. And I have his number.
– How come? Grumbled Isha.
– I have nearly everyone's number in Dowtown, shrugged the young woman. Except I just don't text anyone other than you two. Anyways, care if I invite him and his right-hand dude over?
– Go ahead, I guess.
The unhappy face he showed made Gesh and Leto laugh; of course he would be jealous. But that didn't stop the brunette from texting the man; they could really use some help, tomorrow. And it could bring some fun to their evening, after all. She didn't have the time to think more about it, though: he texted back nearly instantly.
– Wow, that was fast, she said, surprised.
– I bet he has a crush on you, sis, giggled the green-haired one.
– Not my type, urgh. Anyways, he's coming over, along with a newbie, apparently.
– Not with Kunkei?
– Nah, looks like he's busy. Won't be there tomorrow either.
– Hope that newbie too will be pretty good, then.
Saying that, Gesh side-eyed Ishael: the bothered expression on his face was stronger than ever, and it amused him more than it should. Leto observed the duo with a grin; they sure were cute when they were teasing each other.
– Anyways, I'm not sure only two more people will be enough, sighed the blonde.
– M'yeah, true, she nodded.
Suddenly, her face lightened up, while Ishael's got darker, apprehensively.
– No, no, no and no. Whatever it is, when you make that face, this is inevitably a bad idea.
– We should throw a party here! And talk business!
– Fucking no!
– You're no fun, Isha!
– You're all trouble, Leto!
They however had to stop when three knocks resonated at the door, and both straightened their posture on the sofa, surprised. Gesh sighed, but still barely hid his amusement, smirking.
– Rather than fighting like toddlers, one of you two should go open, you rude hosts.
– I'm not going, they're her guests, after all.
– Fine, fine.
Leto sighed, putting her champagne glass down and getting up on her feet. She stretched her arms before heading towards the entrance, unlocking the door. But her smiling face turned to a shocked one when she saw who was the newbie Siali was talking of.
– ... What the fuck is he doing here?
