– Is it what love is supposed to feel like?
Both blushed a little at her question, their heart beating faster as they stared into each others' eyes.
– Is it supposed to feel so... So easy? So soft? I-I mean, I love my best friends too, but this feels different, it feels... It feels so gentle but so strong in the same time, and whenever I'm next to you, I feel invincible, like nothing can happen to me. I've never felt that way before...
Rhy smiled, running a finger on her cheeks, tenderly.
– Yes, this is love, Leto, he murmured. I've fallen head over heels for ya.
– This is what kids call love at first sight, right?
– Right.
They giggled, the young woman sitting back while he wrapped her in his arms.
– Are there others things ya wanna ask, Sugar?
– Well, I could ask you a shitload of things, but this is not what I'm craving for in this exact moment.
Saying that, she bent a bit towards him, and he couldn't help but blush.
– Wh-... What is it?
– Burgers.
At her own words, she burst out laughing.
– Oh damn, I'm sorry, I've totally ruined this moment...
– Ya didn't, Sugar.
He put a little kiss on her cheek, and it was her turn to become red.
– Guess I took the right thing, then, he chuckled.
– Wait, you have burgers?!
– Of course I do. Thought ya would be disappointed, huh?
– Never doubted you.
They shared a laugh, and he quickly let go of her to jump back down to the ground, opening the car's door. He grabbed a paper bag from it before going onto the roof yet again, wrapping an arm around her waist.
– The only thing is... he started, in a chuckle. I didn't know what ya liked, so I took cheeseburgers. Is it alright?
– It's perfect, they're my faves!
Her excited smile amused him as he handed one to her, and took one for himself. She whispered a 'thanks' and put a kiss right on his jawline, making him blush. He opened his while keeping her close, pressed against his chest. She laid her head onto his shoulder, starting to eat her food in his warm, loving embrace, and once again, she thought about how dreamy it felt. She was where she wanted to be, with who she wanted to be, and she could not care less about her gang's problems right now. They silently ate their burgers, both looking at the starry sky above their head. Maybe this time, all the wishes they made under shooting stars – real or not – had been realized.
– So...
Rhy's voice broke the silence, and Leto raised her chin up to watch him, smiling.
– M'yeah?
– Does that mean we're... Dating?
Her face turned almost as red as his, and she acquiesced, coming to sit on his lap, forearms around his neck.
– If you accept, yes, she murmured, smiling.
– Are ya kiddin' me? How could I say no?
The duo giggled as he softly pushed her down on the rooftop, coming on top of her, some of his red hair falling into her face. For a moment, none of them moved, lost into each other's gaze, almost too stunned to do anything. But then, his lips softly pressed against hers, in a tender kiss that the two of them deeply longed for since that night they've met. She closed her eyes, appreciating this moment, wanting it to last forever. She felt happier than she ever did, and from now on, she knew that she would never feel lonely again. When they parted, they gave each other a smile, and Rhy laid down on his side, next to her. Almost instantly she was back against his body, squeezing herself in his arms.
– I love you, Rhy.
– I love you too, Leto.
Delicately, he ran his fingers through her hair, tightening his embrace around her.
– I don't wanna ruin this moment but... he began, observing her.
– But?
– Will we have to keep this a secret?
She shrugged: more or less, she could imagine her father's reaction when he would learn this, and it wasn't cheerful. However, on the other hand, she did not really care about what he could say: after all, Black Jack and Downtown always had a neutral relationship, that was about to evolve into a positive one thanks to the potential alliance with Aren.
– Depends of you, she answered. You're Aren's right-hand man, correct?
– Correct. And also the Dewos' half-brother, even if they don't want it to be known.
– What? But how come you're not a Lieutenant or-...
She suddenly stopped: her too had been a simple member for a long time, even if she was the Chief's daughter. She let out a sigh and kissed his cheek, making him smile.
– I'm sorry, I'm a bit dumb, sometimes.
– No, yer not, Sugar. But yeah, family problems.
– I know that.
– So, how do ya want to play it? Should we wait until we've got some sort of alliance between our gangs? Or...
– Or?
In a smirk, he came back above her, putting his lips into her neck before whispering:
– Should we play it bold?
She couldn't help but laugh as she stole him another kiss, amused.
– Let's do that. And if it becomes too risky, we'll just back off and wait. A'ight?
– A'ight.
Quickly, she came back for his lips, arms wrapped around his torso, and he pressed her down, tongue meddling with hers in a passionate deep kiss. Both wanted this moment to last forever, or at least, way longer than it did: Leto's phone started to ring, and although she tried to hold him back, Rhy sat back, taking back his breathing.
– You... Ya should answer, Sugar, that could be important.
– Not as important as what we were doing... I'm gonna kill whoever called.
He chuckled at her grumble, amused by her reaction. She grabbed it from her dress' pockets, and frowned when she saw the name on the screen.
– What the fuck... Why would that idiot call me?
– Who is it?
– Another Lieutenant. We're barely friends, urgh.
Nevertheless, it was so surprising to her that he would call her and not Gesh that she couldn't retain her curiosity, and picked the call.
– You better have a really good reason to-...
– I... I need your help, Leto!
