The black panther full on jumped at me. It was really a beautiful thing to watch nature at work. The powerful muscles pushing this large creature into the air, claws reaching out from giant paws. I probably could have appreciated it more if he wasn't launching himself at me. I threw myself to the side right before he slammed into the spot I'd been standing in. I quickly got to my feet and spun around to face him. Only it wasn't just him anymore. The door to the kennel slammed open and the other four panthers came bounding out. Well, that was it. This plan was a bust. Time to go.

I took off down the dark streets. I was smart enough to at least have a flashlight on me, which I pulled out and clicked on. But it didn't help much. The sun was down and there was no moon tonight. It was dark as pitch out here. And I was basically defenseless. Oh sure, I don't need my weapons, I said. I've got a foolproof plan, I said. Every ounce slows me down, I need to be light. Looked like I was too smart for my own good. Wait, that didn't make sense. I was definitely not being smart.

I could hear the growls of the panthers behind me. I wanted to look back, because like I said, not smart, but the sound of pounding paws really filled me with fear. Like I was seconds away from peeing myself and the only thing that stopped me was thinking I didn't want to die with wet panties. Sure it sounds weird, but it was true.

Now I already knew I didn't have much over these panthers. They were faster, stronger, bigger, and had little razor sharp knives attached to their hands and feet. What did I have? A flashlight and opposable thumbs. It wasn't much but I had to make do. I didn't try to outrun the panthers and I didn't try to lose them or hide from them. I wasn't fast enough and they could track animals by scent. And I was pretty they'd already picked up mine. So instead of going far, I ran up to the first door I saw with a glass window. I didn't hesitate, shoved the flashlight through the glass. I reached in and unlocked the door, pulling it open. I jumped inside pulling it closed behind me. Not even a second later something slammed into the door, causing the wood to buckle, but not break. Not yet anyway.

I turned to keep going and almost ran straight into a zom. He looked almost surprised to see me before he opened the mouth to scream. I decided I didn't have time for this. I stepped forward and hit him with an uppercut to the jaw. The secret to any good punch involves two things, having a good, solid stance and putting your whole body into the punch. Moving the arm alone isn't enough, the hips have to flow with the motion of the punch, the whole body turning and moving the force through the fist into the opponent. I preferred to strike open hand with my palm. This usually did less damage to the hands. It'll still hurt, but its less likely to break a knuckle or two.

My palm slammed the zoms mouth shut before it could scream. The force of my strike was enough to knock him down. I gave his face a solid stomp as I ran by him. I felt the crunch, but I didn't know if I finished him off. Wasn't sticking around to find out either. I ran into the next room and flicked my flashlight around. I saw some stairs but decided against that. The panthers would have me trapped in the building. I heard a scream and turned around in time to see another zom running at me.

Honestly, this was getting ridiculous. I kicked forward. Now when using a forward kick it's usually best to aim for the center of the chest. But I'm short. So this zom got my heel in his nads. Worked all the same, he lost balance and fell forward, his head right in front of my feet. I lifted my foot up above my head, like I said before, I do yoga, and brought the heel down on his head. I heard the crunch that time. This one I was sure was dead. There was a crash and I knew the panthers had broken down the door. Lucky for me, I spotted the front door. I ran to it, throwing it open before spinning around and slamming it closed. As I was turning to keep running though, a paw burst out of the front window and a claw got me on the arm. I let out the usually girly scream you expect from someone who's had their arm ripped open by a panther claw. It only hurt for a second though. Thank you adrenaline.
