Abbey was sat against the wall, tapping her hands against the other creating a rhythm that she nodded her head to. Agents passed her and looked as she just patiently waited for the supervisory agent who's office she was outside of.
The tapping of her hands turned into biting of her nails and playing with her ring that was on her right ring finger. She was lifting it up slightly and rotating it, changing from counter to clockwise.
Feeling the movement of the metal against her skin helped to settle or more distract from the nerves bumbling inside of her stomach. As a pair of feet stopped at her causing Abbey to stop and look up before scrambling to her feet quickly, picking up her bag as the figure moved out of the way.
He unlocked the door and went into his office while Abbey just stood at the door.
"You know you really shouldn't sit at Agent's offices. It doesn't look very professional." The agent told her as she was leant against the door, nodding as she cleared her throat.
"I was really tired. We just did the final practice fitness test and it was my quickest time. I tried standing up but my legs kinda gave way." Abbey spoke with a slight chuckle but when she saw the gaze on his face she stopped the chuckle and looked down.
"Can I, can I come in?" Abbey asked and the agent nodded. The young girl closed the door behind her and sat on the chair.
"So..." She started to trial off but it fell silent. Neither of them knew how to communicate with one another, as it had felt like years since they sat down in front of each other, in person and talked.
"Do you want to play a game of chess?" He asked as Abigail nodded, tying her hair into a ponytail as the Agent pulled out the chessboard.
"I always found life easier, during a game of chess." He spoke as Abigail smiled.
"You and I are both Dad." He looked up as she sat back up in her chair.
"Agent Gideon." Her dad said quickly, making her look at him. A beat passed.
"I'm only messing with you." Abigail let out her breath and chuckled.
"Ah okay. Cool." He started the game, playing as the white as Abbey looked to the board.
"I've met a few members of your team. Some not in the best of circumstances." Abbey said as she moved her pawn.
"I've been told. Especially about Smithers and the range." Abbey rolled her eyes and scoffed before realizing what she had done.
"Sorry, that wasn't you. It was at Smithers. The bastard hates my guts." Abigail said as her dad scoffed slightly.
"What?" She asked as her dad moved another pawn.
