FBI Criminal, Cyber, Response and Services Branch (Critical Incident Response Group Division) - Quantico, Virginia

Abigail stood in an unusual outfit. A blouse with a blazer and a skirt matched with a pair of high heels. This was formal, she had emailed Agent Skiver that night and he still had to request an interview no matter how much he wanted to have her on the CIRG.
She had been in constant leggings and big tees during her days of the academy. But here she was, falling down past her shoulder as she had her file clutched to her chest, along with the recommendation from two FBI agents who taught her in the academy.
She tapped her foot, trying to cope with the overwhelming pit in her stomach from the interview that wasn't even an interview. What was she doing? She didn't get nervous. Abigail had the job in the bag and she knew she did.
The door opened causing her head to look up as she gave a smile. There was Agent Skiver letting out another Agent, shaking their hand as they left. His head turned towards Abbey before letting her into his office. The heels she had been standing in suddenly became uneasy as she walked ahead, taking the seat that was offered and placing her files neatly on her lap.
Agent Skiver took his seat across from the desk and let out a little sigh.
"So Agent Gideon."
"Please call me Abbey. Whenever someone shouts for Agent Gideon they're shouting for my dad, it's awfully confusing." Agent Skiver gave a slight chuckle.
"Of course, Agent Gideon one of the founders of the BAU along with-"
"With former Agent David Rossi, who is ironically also my godfather but I never see him." Abigail interrupted before mumbling a sorry and handing her files over to the man. He skimmed through them, eyebrow raising as he read through the recommendations along with her own profile from the FBI database. Skiver looked up to her as she cleared her throat and sat forward slightly.
"I know you can access the database but I prefer the hard copy and it was just easier for you because it's just like bam there it is, no having to search it up that takes time. It just makes everything go easier if everyone is prepared."
"Tell me Abigail, do you always talk this much?"
She shook her head.
"No god no. I'm much more of a do-er, getting things done practically instead of talking. When I get nervous or anxious or uncomfortable I start to ramble and overly explain almost everything. Like for example, it says on my file that I have an eccentric skill in reading and can read up to 1000 words a minute which equals two pages of a case file, for example but that is not true as of so far I can read 4,569 words in a minute and I'm aiming for 5,000."
As she took a pause for breath the girl looked to the man who could potentially be her supervisor and stopped.
"Like I said. When I get nervous I start to ramble."
"Do you know you would do brilliant as a negotiator?"
"I've already been offered an interview next week for their unit. Along with Counter-terrorism but that was never my strong suit in the academy." Abigail blurted out before giving a slight sigh to calm herself down.
"So they were right. Every unit wants the special agent." Abigail nodded.
All except the one she cares about the most.
"Well, your shooting score is exceptional."
"Never faulted from my entire time in the academy. I kinda wished they could make a whole new grading range so I could see if there was any more improvement."
"I like that. You want to work harder to be better. Now that takes determination. And your recommendations, the words cannot describe how proud your teachers must be of you." Abigail gave a slight smile with a blush forming on her cheeks.
"So how would you like to be the newest member to my unit?" Her jaw dropped slightly before she closed it and nodded eagerly.
"Yes. Oh my god yes! Thank you." Abbey said as she took his hand that was now held out and shook it eagerly.
"Oh sorry." She said as she pulled away.
"It is okay Agent. You have a strong grip. I wouldn't wanna get on the end of a punch from you." The girl laughed slightly and nodded.
"I just hope I'll never have to physically hurt anyone." Agent Skiver nodded, but in the back of his mind he knew that wouldn't happen. All Agents were trained in combat, knowing that it will have to be used later on in their field.
The two sat for the next 15 minutes discussing what the job would mean for her, the paperwork behind it and the team she would be working with.
"Your desk is just there." He pointed out of his window and she saw an empty desk in the corner where she nodded. It was small but seemed comfortable, as she wouldn't be spending much time at it.
"We deal with any cases that come from Virginia, and the certain unit that requests. It's a 24/7 job Agent, I hope you understand that." Abigail nodded.
"I don't live too far from Quantico, I just need to get a car that actually works but I'm also a pretty fast runner." Abigail said jokingly as Agent Skiver nodded.
"Well the department can provide you with an SUV if needed." Abigail shook her head.
"No it's not necessary, my car is small and works just fine but not the most ideal. However it shall not be a problem."
"Good. Now our team is made up of experts in many fields, making our team well knowledgeable for any situation we work in. From the recommendations from your lecturers it seems that your field of work is split." Abigail looked over his desk to see if she could read the letter upside down.
"I'm sorry? Split?" She questioned.
"You specialize in crisis negotiations, behavioral analysis, tactical and technical operations. It's fair to say Agent, you are impressive." The girl gave a smile.
"Thank you. I mean ultimately I am happy to be with the CIRG as I know my way around a gun and it's what I'm good at but I know, it's not my endgame."
She paused before continuing to speak.
"Not right now anyway."
Agent Skiver nodded.
"That is quite understandable. I, myself, started out in the WMDD."
"That was not my strong point in training, but I can defuse a mean bomb if needed." Agent Skiver chuckled and nodded.
"I was the same but being in the Unit made me better, just like this unit will make you better as an Agent." She smiled before the Agent opposite her stood and said "Let's go and meet the team shall we?"
Abigail followed behind her unit chief, looking around the place she would call home as he leaned against the railing and said somewhat loudly "Team?"
Heads all turned looking towards the two as Abbey rested her hands on the railing.
"This is SA Abigail Gideon. Fresh out of the academy and she's joining our team." Smiles grew as the people all started to approach her. Abbey looked around, shaking hands and greeting those who would become a form of family.
Abbey looked over to Skiver who nodded at her before speaking to another member of the team. Her head snapped back around, speaking to the only other woman on the team about the hours and how intense it was going to be.
The calm before the beginning of the storm.
