off Broadway cast, because movie Veronica is too edgy for aquariums

Heather Chandlers POV

"Christ, I can't believe I let you drag me here," I grumbled while walking down the stairs, "I mean out of all the places we could've gone, you chose an aquarium?"

Me and Veronica walked down the stairs to where we could see the dolphins and seals could be seen better from the bottom floor. Veronica skipped along, and I slowly trailed behind her. I don't see why we need to learn about any of this. It's not like we need to know any of this for a test. Even if we did, it's not that hard to pay her to do it for me.

"You said you wanted to get to know me better, and spending time with me is a good way to do that." Veronica replies while kneeling in front of the glass pressing her face to it.

She has a good point. If I want to get to know her, I've gotta at least make an effort. I do want to get to know her, but it'd be a lot easier if we were just hanging out at my house. How am I supposed to get to know her if we're just looking at fish?

"Aquariums are for nerds and 12 year olds. We're 17, and we need people to like us," she groaned, "how am I supposed to get to know you if we're not even talking?"

"Heather look!"she exclaims pressing up against the glass as a chubby seal swims by.

It does a little twist as it swims on its back past us, and another one follows it. Her face lights up in awe as if it's the only thing that matters in the world.

I kneel down next to her, and we watch as the seals do a few more laps around the front of the glass. It's kinda cute, the way it swims right up next to us, as it spins and glides through the water.

"Did you know that they use their whiskers to look for food?" She asks out of the blue, as she examines the little signs on the wall.

She's such a dork. She's so lucky she has me to protect her from relentless torment. Who am I kidding, she had to put up with it for years.

"Why would we need to know that? All you need to know about seals is they're cute, and look good on greeting cards."

She chuckles and I follow her down the hall past jelly fish, plus a couple different kinds of fish, and crabs. She reads all the little fun fact signs, and points out the names of each one.

Who would need to know this many different kinds of fish? I never even knew there were this many kinds.

After a few too many minutes of her staring into a tank of little sea horses, I clear my throat to get her attention.

"What is it? We've only been here for like 20 minutes," she turns her attention back to me, "are you bored already?"

"Let's go to the next exhibit now. You've been at this one for like 5 minutes straight."

"Shit," she looks down at her watch, "they're just really cool looking."

They're cute, but they're just little fish. I don't get how she can just stare at them in wonder for so long.

"They're fish, Veronica. How cool can they be?" I question her as we walk.

"Very cool,"she answers, "Did you know that they use their tails to hold on to stuff? And that the males are the ones that have babies?"

"You got all this from a dumb sign?" I playfully nudge her In the side.

"Well i already know most of this stuff, but it's still fun."

God, she really is a dork. I can't believe I'm hanging out with her. And I certainly can't believe I'm enjoying it. It's all dumb, but in a fun way. It's not that bad of a way to kill time.
